can you make an acid lead with LPF and ring modulator?

I'm sorry, I really don't mean to sound rude, and I really do want to help you out, but you've asked this same question or some variation of at least 5 times. Each time the answer is the same.
If you really want synth sounds, why not get a synth? You can certainly get crazy, tripped out acid sounds using guitar pedals such as the moogerfoogers, but it really isn't going to sound like the Crystal Method. Not ever.
I hope this helps, but it sounds like what you really want is a synthesizer. Don't be shy, I think you'll like it
....wow, I used the word "really" 6 six times in this post. I need to take some writing classes...

answer:
you can get there just about, however you would need another source for an envelope generator for gating (eg, the murf or another 101, which has a mixer function on it that you could control via a cv-midi controller.) otherwise all you'll get is organ sounds, basically.. even if you crank the drive. with the added murf or 101, the signal path that would afford you the opportunity to make a really simple acid lead that get it's character from a sine wave-> a couple drive stages -> then a mf-101 to make it squelchy. with the addition of a cp251, you can add attack and release to that list, and get rid of the stupid gate popping noise.
if you have a cv-midi converter like a kenton pro solo or equivalent, and an additional fooger (101,105 are essential to do this unless you have a modular laying around with an EG), lemme know and i'll explain the patching path on how to make a really ghetto monosynth with the foogers.

sorry guys, but it just doesn't feel right asking people on another forum about these kinds of things when i can ask at the source.
would you recommend a MURF or an LPF as another envelope source? my planned moogerfooger setup is the LPF, the ring modulator and the 12 stage phaser.CTRLSHFT wrote: you can get there just about, however you would need another source for an envelope generator for gating (eg, the murf or another 101, which has a mixer function on it that you could control via a cv-midi controller.) otherwise all you'll get is organ sounds, basically.. even if you crank the drive. with the added murf or 101, the signal path that would afford you the opportunity to make a really simple acid lead that get it's character from a sine wave-> a couple drive stages -> then a mf-101 to make it squelchy. with the addition of a cp251, you can add attack and release to that list, and get rid of the stupid gate popping noise.
i'd go for the MURF, you can get some pretty cool phaser-like sounds out of it, and alot more. get both if you can though, the moog phaser is in a league of it's own; i've never met it's equalSpank wrote:sorry guys, but it just doesn't feel right asking people on another forum about these kinds of things when i can ask at the source.

105b or the standard 105CTRLSHFT wrote:i'd go for the MURF, you can get some pretty cool phaser-like sounds out of it, and alot more. get both if you can though, the moog phaser is in a league of it's own; i've never met it's equalSpank wrote:sorry guys, but it just doesn't feel right asking people on another forum about these kinds of things when i can ask at the source.

stupid question: is it just bassier sounds on the 105b?
ehehe. i haven't used the bass murf yet, but if you check out the specs you'll see that the differences are basically that the 105b is better suited for instruments or sounds with lower fundamental frequencies, and the 105 is better for mid-range based instruments eg guitars and leads. you'll get a darker tone with the 105b but suffer less of a loss in the lower freqs. the 105b has different patterns too. i'll leave that decision up to youSpank wrote:105b or the standard 105CTRLSHFT wrote:i'd go for the MURF, you can get some pretty cool phaser-like sounds out of it, and alot more. get both if you can though, the moog phaser is in a league of it's own; i've never met it's equalSpank wrote:sorry guys, but it just doesn't feel right asking people on another forum about these kinds of things when i can ask at the source.

Re: can you make an acid lead with LPF and ring modulator?
I have the mf101, and 3 synth pedals. like someone said you get about most of the way there. I also have envelope generator to control the mf low pass cutoff. this is key, as its like physically twisting the knob counter clockwise from 1pm to about 9 or 10pm.
the reason i post is cause im curious why you think a ring modulator is necessary. im not saying wrong. i just didn't think of it.
if i understand correctly tb303 sound is a saw wave with a moveable lp resonant filter. the lpf moves from hi's to low's and the resonance boost gives it that squeek squeal.
