Potentiometer and encoders for sub phatty

Post by Philphil82 » Mon Jul 28, 2025 11:43 pm

Hi,

Just bought a sub phatty however a few knobs stopped working (octave, headset and some filters).

Do you know where I can source these potentiometers and encoders? I found a few but not 100% of the size etc.

Thanks,

Philippe

Octave are rotary switches.

The pots are all 10 kB except (they are just to set a voltage to be A/D converted for the processor which in turn will rout the CVs via DACs to the analog sound circuits) for the headphone being a 100 k audio one.
The two octave rotary switches are 4x1 ones. The one for the LFO waveshapes is 6x1.
There are no encoders on the Sub Phatty.

Your Moog distributor should have the needed rotary switches, as they are known to fail. I had to replace them too. I got them from the distributor.

Please note there are some tiny metal shaft adapters on some axis (switches?). Don't loose them. You need them for the knob and switch caps.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

It´s hard to find pots with the very same specs. Recently, I found and tested these drop-in replacements:
