Muse with Labyrinth?

Post by tbeltrans » Wed Jul 02, 2025 7:45 am

Sometime this week, a Moog Labyrinth should arrive from Guitar Center. Anybody have experience using this together with the Muse?

As I understand it, the Labyrinth only has MIDI in, so it can be sync'ed to the Muse MIDI clock as well as accepting MIDI note on/off. Then there are the CV inputs and outputs on both synths. So there might be something there to work with.

Since making that first post, I have since purchsed the Sound Studio 3 as new with all the goodies, even the card deck on reverb at an excellent price. Rather than using a keyboard with it, I now see that really, it is best utilized as stand-alone (but with the Labyrinth) via its sequencers with all the modules sync'ed together.

I just purchased a 4 tier version of the Sound Studio rack so that I can add the Labyrinth. The mixer module that comes with the Sound Studio 3 has 4 inputs, so it can accomodate the Labyrinth, though there are only 3 power distribution sockets for the 3 pieces of the Sound Studio, so it does have to use its own power supply. The Sound Studio came with one 3 amp power supply for the power distribution in the mixer to supply the 3 Sound Studio pieces, but also with individual power supplies for all 3 if you want to use them separately.

The Sound Studio seems to have been intended to be used sequenced, which I suppose makes sense for that modular experience.

That's just the way I use it. I've got DFAM and Subharmonicon centered and M-32 and Labyrinth on left/right channels (pan switches on back of mixer module). Sometimes I let Labyrinth play along with M-32's sequence (M-32 keyb out to Labyrinth vco 1v/oct in) which can make a nice stereo effect.
Minimoog Voyager, One-8, Matriarch, Grandmother, Subsequent37, DFAM, Mother-32, Subharmonicon, Labyrinth

I was curious about the pan switches on the back, so I will try your use of them and see how that sounds.
