Interlocking Matriarch power adapter connection.

Post by EFGould » Sat Oct 09, 2021 12:26 am

I knew it would happen sooner or later; I have misplaced the matriarch power adapter. I know I can use any number of substitutes but the one that shipped with my matriarch was the first connector I had seen that was properly designed. It is WAY TOO EASY to yank out power by mistake, and that so many devices are reliant on an easily disconnected power brick is incredible. I was happy that Moog had addressed this issue (I also think internal power is best but let’s not get into that right now).

I am looking for a link to an exact replacement of the Matriarch 12V power supply, the one with the screw-in, interlocking connector. In fact, I wish I knew what the connectors are even called.

Yes, I lost it despite my ‘system’ for keeping them organized (photo; the bins are on the ‘Zon)

Cheers

Hello,

resurrecting this thread in an attempt to locate a replacement PSU for my Matriarch. The original one has some kind of a loose connection and will cut out seemingly without prompt.

Anyone have a replacement I could buy?

Alternative Matriarch Power Supply... solution!!

Post by Mystic38 » Thu Jan 02, 2025 3:55 pm

Like many, I have searched high and low for a power supply for the Moog Matriarch.. I found the manufacturer, but no identification anywhere for the exact model listed on the manf. site or any dealer thereof..

I am moving all my gear (stressful) to give up my music room for the toddler, and pending some work in the basement am stealing a corner of my bdroom..

In so doing, tearing down a two desk setup and having more than a dozen walwarts on the floor, and a hundred (at least) cables, i started sorting the walwarts into 12V and non 12V..

...and, as I wasn't looking, I found a 12V, 3A supply with a locking collar!.. it is the power supply for an ATEM mini pro iso (a video switcher/recorder).. about $35 from a variety of sources included BHphoto as linked below

it is an Asian Power Devices (APD) WA-36N12R

hope this helps someone

Hello Mystic 38.

Just checkin in to see how your experience with the Blackmagic Design 12V Locking Power Supply (12W) is going.

Is it working well, partnered with the Matriarch? Are there any issues (noise, overheating?) or do you stand by the quality of this replacement.

If so, I will purchase!

thank you

Heads up: The power supply linked above at B&H does not supply enough amperage.

It outputs 1A but needs to output 2A to be compatible.
