LFO Note-On Reset

what is the difference between a "single" and "multi" setting? They both seem to do the same thing.

I would like to understand this too.
And I wonder why the manual (Moog_One_Manual 2-3-23.pdf) for the Moog One doesn't mention "single" and "multi", even though these are options on the synth.

From manual:
NOTE-ON RESET (OFF, ON)
With this parameter set to On, the LFO begins a new cycle with each new note on-event, beginning
from the value specified in the START PHASE parameter.

Single trigger:
The envelopes are only starting from the attack again, when the no key is pressed anylonger when the new key is played.

Multiple trigger:
The envelopes restart at the attack any time a new note is played.

So what is the musical difference? The main difference is, that playing legato, that is overlapping notes without new envelope trigger, is only playable with a single trigger.

Restarting the LFO on a note on is also depending on this setting just like the envelopes.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

Thanks Till. That is how I would expect LFOs and EGs to respond to different settings of Note-on Reset. So today I did some testing and am probably hearing a known bug in the Moog One firmware. Let me know what you think.

I tested this with Polyphony.Polycount=2 and modulated OSC1 pitch with first LFO1 (slow saw waveform) and then MOD EG AMT.

While testing, I held one note down while repeatedly tapping a second note on/off.

I concluded that for LFOs, single-trigger seems to act like multi-trigger, and for EGs all settings seem to act like multi-trigger.

This is what I heard.

LFO Note-On Reset = Off
LFO is free running and applied to all notes.
For the held note, I could hear the LFO slowly modulating the pitch. On the second tapping note, I could hear the pitch starting at different places depending on where the LFO was in it's cycle.

LFO Note-On Reset = Single-Trigger
Each note gets it's own LFO that restarts with every Note-On
For the held note, I could hear the LFO slowly modulating the pitch. On the second tapping note, I could hear that the LFO was restarting each time I tapped the key.

LFO Note-On Reset = Multi-Trigger
Exactly the same behavior as Single-Trigger

EG Note-On Reset = Off
For the held note, I could hear the EG slowly modulating the pitch. On the second tapping note, I could hear that the EG was restarting each time I tapped the key.

EG Note-On Reset = On, Multi-Trigger=On
Exactly the same behavior as EG Note-On Reset = Off

EG Note-On Reset = On, Multi-Trigger=Off
Exactly the same behavior as EG Note-On Reset = Off
