Knob and button quality?

Post by F2point8 » Thu Feb 06, 2025 1:45 am

I have a new Muse and for the last 3 weeks or so I'm enjoying it. But the build quality- specifically the white large buttons and the push encoder seem to be uninspiring quality-wise. The two most extreme (left and right) white buttons of the 16 don't have the same travel or click as the others- they work- but make less to no click sound and have a limp or dead feel. The endless push button encoder left of the screen is quite wobbly and does not convey confidence. All functions do work- I just worry that the machine won't last. My Sub 37 and Sub Phatty felt like tanks compared to this.

Is my unit sub par or are these non-issues and standard for the Muse?

I just practiced touch typing on my 16 buttons and I think I can feel what you're talking about on the edges - I wouldn't have noticed myself though.

I'm wondering if it's just the way the white buttons are fit under the panel and if the edges have less ability to move than the central buttons?

White buttons are mixed-quality here as well. Something else our ten-year-old noticed: some encoders have fasteners, others don't …

I looked at mine. Impressive real metal pot stems not cheap plastic so that's good. I think those screw & washer locks aren't required at every single pot location location I'd guess that is simply to secure enough of them per each circuit board to the metal top. There's so many you don't need all of them locked down. However I have a bag of those here I could lock them all. down.

My chicklet button work good or the same I haven't gotten worried about them.

My push encoder is a tad wobbly I think I'll add a lock screw to that one because it gets used so much and it was not on there. Never mind it won't actually install. See photos. The threads on the push style don't reach above the surface.

Apparently photos don't work on this site. Status is an exclamation in a blue triangle whatever the hell that means. I tried both formats JPG & PNG. It's annoying not having it just work. So much easier to show a photos than describe in words.
