My new MUSE and some possible issues perhaps?

Post by Soupdragon » Sat Dec 07, 2024 12:38 pm

I was hesitant about ordering the muse after watching a lot of video demo’s but when it arrived it exceeded my expectations. I wondered if it would be better than my REV2.

I’m just testing it all out but have a couple of questions about something’s I have noticed so far as far as poss issues.
My clock more button has got stuck and stayed on, couldn’t turn it off at all. I have the latest firmware already installed. Should I redo that I wonder?

The mod assign button on pitch when on is not allowing me to change any mods. On other mod assigns, some seem to work and you can see on screen, while others won’t change at all. You can’t even select programmer buttons to change anything and I do not know why. I tried pressing the timbre a or b and one would allow mods, the other would not. This seems strange to me but maybe I am missing something or not doing something.

I am used to doing mods on my sequential’s and other synths.

Loving it so far, just hoping it’s not going to be problematic.

I heard rumors online that the warehouse in the hurricane hitting NC might have reached stored gear awaiting shipment. Hopefully no gear being sold was damaged but might have been in wet, high humidity and maybe soggy boxes. I'm sure they moved those quickly but who knows exactly. Could be some questionable pieces out there. On top of this no reps are replying on the forum or otherwise as some have said so who can distinguish between real gear damage and glitches or bugs? When did you receive yours?

When you stitch patches do the mods change? There's not a "program lock" turned on is there?

Try reloading the update. I'd think it a unit was damaged it wouldn't function at all.

Afaik no water reached the warehouse. I got my second synth from the most recent shipment that B.V. would have come from there and it was bone dry. No hardware issues to speak of either, only software.

Thanks for the replies. I got mine this week so still exploring it all.
I will check to see if it’s locked somehow. I didn’t know there would be locked patches.
I will re-do firmware today just in case.

I am still unable to change mods with assign buttons or add control on certain factory presets like muse runner, hanamatsu tines and a few others. These patches will not allow me to change mods that way and I do not know why. Does anyone know? Can anyone else change mods with assign or add control on these 2 patches easily?
Muse runner is set on lfo2 uni as source and destination is set at osc 2 freq.I can’t change either destination or source which seems strange. Am I missing something? These do not have locked arps on them and I can’t find anything else locked.

Most other factory patches I can easily change mods without going into mod map and can see the amount of modification change as I turn a knob like lfo rate.
Even if I go to change things in mod map on these patches, it does not seem to make a difference in allowing me to adjust with knobs or assign buttons.

I like the ease of adjusting mods with just moving a knob, when it works that is.
I would have liked to see the mods change source and destination in the mod map as you turn a knob, rather than having to press select/ enter etc to adjust them there. Not sure why they didn’t do this.

Nobody responded to my last question and I really would like to know this still. Some props must be locked I assume cos you can’t seem to assign mods to them.
Another recent issue is that the arp got stuck and wouldn’t turn off.
Just seeing if the firmware 1.3 has fixed this.

I have since found many factory patches that you cannot change mods or assign mods to and still don’t know why, can’t find any info on them being locked.

Also have had some output noise or noise coming from somewhere( not actual white noise) which stays on continuously until any patch is changed. If I turn down all the pot knobs, sliders it is still going… only disappears when I mute output.

I heard this too and it feels like the vca is not fully closing

Soupdragon, I am able to edit and change mod slots on the patches you mentioned. Make sure you have latest OS too.

Hi soundquest, thanks for the reply. I wondered are you able to just turn a pot and get mod changes on the patches I mentioned, or did you have to go into mod map and add new mods first?
I heard that certain patches can’t be changed because all the mod map destinations etc has been used up and I would have to initialize each mod then before changing them on these patches. This does work but seems strange that you have to do this.

Thankyou guest also for your reply about the VCA possibly not closing, could well be. It’s very annoying that’s for sure and needs fixing.

soupdragon, per your question...yes , looking at the muse runner patch, I can directly change a mod value without needing to "change" the mod slot or anything like that. Its behaving as I would expect.
