Hi,
Can you try a Moog Muse somewhere before ordering, or purchase from an outlet with a good returns policy if you are not happy?
And, with respect, I do not think it is for others to convince you to buy, Only you of course can decide on your purchase decisions based on what you read/see.
Having said that, I am happy to tell you of my experience with the Muse so far, as I am sure others will.
Experience may vary, but I have had my Muse for over a month now and I am quite happy with it.
- Tuning - No issues with tuning, and I have only ever performed a quick tun so far.
- Aftertouch - See this thread on Aftertouch for discussion and my own findings where I compared aftertouch on all of my available keyboards
- Display - I have seen no problems with my display but some people are more sensitive to flicker than others. There does appear to be an "undocumented screen saver" where the display goes blank after a period of time, but it comes back if you change patch or press the Select Button. I would prefer it came back on any panel control movement or if you press a key, but not a biggie for me now I know how to get it back.
- Headphone volume - No comment as I have not used it
- Timing - I have only so far done limited syncing to an external source, but all seems good so far.
I would also say that you need to be recognise that there is a risk that forum discourse can give you skewed negative view of a product. People of course naturally come and post the problems and issues they are having, and I am not for an instance suggesting they are not valid. But for every post about a problem, it is not countered by somebody posting to say "hey, I am having no problems with this product!" I.e. how many Muses have Moog sold and what is the percentage of people reporting problems? That is always hard to gauge of course.
I say that as somebody who has been participating in and moderating keyboard forums for the past 25 years. The same is true of motoring forums or similar.
