Great News From Moog One Developers

Post by rtcstudio » Sat Dec 21, 2024 12:19 pm

Everyone check out the Facebook Group: Moog One Owners Group.
There’s some really good news there. In short, one of the original Moog One software development team members will be working with a team at Moog to complete the next firmware revision for the One. And hopefully ongoing.

From Moog Developer Geert Bevin:

Hi everyone,
Joe (Joe Richardson, Moog President), me and other passionate people at Moog have been actively looking at creating a new firmware update for Moog One and I've taken the lead on this. We love the instrument and want to make it even better than it already is. We don't have an exact timeframe yet, but inMusic and Moog leadership is committed to deliver this update and this is at the top of our priorities in the months to come. Wishing you all happy holidays full of musical joy.

I wanted to add a little more information about my role, for those that might not know.

I've been one of the core engineers on the Moog One since the beginning and have been leading Moog software engineering for almost 10 years. Together with other members of my team we dedicated many passionate years on creating the instrument that the One is now, and it is still very close to our heart. I have a Moog One 16 voice myself, serial number 2026, purchased in 2022. It sits right next to my desk in my home office and I'm still so proud of what we've created. I'm excited that we get to spend more time on it to make it even better. I'll try to give you all more details once they have solidified.

From Moog President Joe Richardson:

Thanks for dropping this here Geert Bevin. Apologies to this group. Your anticipation is warranted, and the project is in the right hands from here.

As importantly, inMusic is eager to bring more to you in this instrument. (Whether we should continue our efforts was never questioned.)

Step one was to get support. The support is now confirmed. Geert is the right person to lead this and I’ll support him and his needs as this comes alive.

In 2025 you’ll see some of the other things that have been cooking. But for now, Happy Holidays to everyone here. This truly is a devoted group.

Not impressed that they don’t even bother to post information here in their own forum. What are they thinking?

Wow this is amazing news. Truly one of the greatest synthesizers of the modern era, but definitely still in need of some refinement. Really really pleased to hear this.

I”m so happy to read this great news! :D

There are some many small bugs I cannot remember at the moment but I have sent in to moog support but things I would really like to see added is modulation control of the effects (at least the individual FX), a velocity registering arpeggiator and a arpeggiator more like the Muses and if all possible be able to drive the filter input harder than today.

Let’s make 2025 the year of the One and only ;)

And another wish if possible - I would love to see the diffusion delay from the Muse being implemented into the One

I am in no way associated with Moog, but I am a software engineer. The wiser play here is to only fix all the old bugs, Adding new features potentially adds new bugs, which I what we are trying to avoid. Yes, I'm sure they do their own pre-release testing but the thousands of real users are more likely to find the smaller bugs than the handful of testers they have.

Hello,

thank you for this!

As I already wrote in the fb group // Could you please look into the digital/noise artifacts that spike when using insert outputs, when you turn on more than one in the menu the spikes around -100db come up.

Thank you!
Best

As somewhat of a software developer myself I could not agree more. Fixing the bugs are the top priority. This was just wishful thinking from my part 😉

Dear Sir,

I do appreciate your efforts to develop new software updates for the moog one.

I bought my moog one in July 2021 and put the latest update 1.5 into it, but I am still missing two important improvements.

First: The tuning for the upper four octaves is fine, but for the lowest octave it isn't.

Second: I would like to use my moog one as a master keyboard, but it doesn't send program change informations via midi to my connected slave synthesizers by pressing the performance keys A-H and 1-8.

To verify this malfunction, I made a countercheck by switching on the moog one's sequencer and it did work how it should be. But my slave synthesizers (Waldorf Iridium and Kyra and other synths, too) didn't receive any program change orders.

So I would be very grateful to you, to integrate the upper mentioned two enhancements.

Many thanks in advance and kind regards from Germany !
