Muse Filter Keytracking

Post by Kwamensah » Fri Nov 29, 2024 1:12 am

Hi, has any one else noticed that the 1:1 key tracking on the Muse is way off? Like if you self oscillate the filter and set it to 440hz with 1:1 it's not in tune at all and doesn't track across the keyboard. And if I tune it to the key I press, the scaling of the keytracking is off.

Is this just me or is it maybe something that will be fixed in firmware? Or is there another solution?

Mine is decent. Have you run a full calibration?

I did do both a full tuning, and full auto cal and still the key tracking on the filter is off, and strangely it's off by different margins between the two filters so there's definitely something going on with the calibration or control of the filter key tracking.

Keytracking is still out for me, + or minus about 20 cents on each end of the keyboard.

Are you checking it with a tuner?

Plus or minus 20 cents across the keyboard is likely within spec. Self-oscillating filters are generally not precisely pitch tracking analog circuits. (If that was easy, we would see a lot more analog sine-wave oscillators.)

So I just ran a new auto cal and tuning cycle today (first since the update) and it keytracks perfectly now!

Yeah I have no way to prove it but I think they tightened up the tolerances somehow on the calibration, mine sounds great too.
