Minimoog Voyager Weird Output Issue

Post by Goldtone Workshop » Thu Oct 17, 2024 1:11 pm

Hey everyone,

I have a Minimoog Voyager up on the bench with a weird output issue. The synth will work fine until you change patches and then all sound out of the left and right outputs goes away. The only way to get it back is to mess with the master volume knob, then it comes back right away.

All of the main power rails are spot on, though the +15V and +5B rails read a little low (only 2-300mV) and the CMOS battery reads 3V. Any ideas what would cause this?

I'm trying not to erase the customer's presets but can try a firmware update if necessary. It's currently running v3.5

Welcome!

Do a backup of all sounds via sysex first.
Are we talking about the keyboard version?
No MIDI connected?
What is the stored volume of these sounds? Maybe they are stored with a low or zero volume for some reasons unknown.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

Hey!

Thanks for your reply! It looks like the patches do have the output level set to zero. So weird.

Digging a little deeper into the menus, it looks like the Panel control menu has an option to let the master volume knob or the headphone knob override the preset volume level. This synth is from a local backline company so it's exposed to a lot of different users with different needs. Maybe someone never set it back after use.

Thanks again for the help.
