I really doubt that 200+ people just joined today and thought, "Wow, Frank Lucas deserves to win." I cannot believe the jump it just made. Talented as he may be, it's just not fair. Dirty, dirty...

Too bad. Spiraling really deserves this.

Meanwhile, take a gander at this.

?... this seems to be a moog-related thread. the first 2 posts could've gone into the exisiting 'Poll: opening for Moogfest' thread though.

i think getting 200+ votes (which require sign-ups here) in one day is very possible. Bands have things called mailing-lists and myspace pages/etc.

Spiraling have over 46,000 myspace "friends". if they havent already, now might be a good time to ask for their 'friends' help.

i have to say... me thinks some people are cheating on here... spiraling is an awesome band and really deserve this... i say close the polls and have the organizers of moogfest choose already! i don't think it's fair if someone wins because they cheated. the honor should go to the best band... and, in my opinion, that's SPIRALING!

[originally by BLB - quote by ="moogmusic"]We need your help! Please Vote NOW!

We have had many, many groups bid to open for this year's Moogfest (BB King's Club, NYC, June 22) and we have narrowed it down to three very deserving groups > Spiraling, Frank Lucas, and I,Synthesist. All would be great; but we can only have one. Help us decide by placing your vote.

You can hear Spiraling at http://www.sonicbids.com/spiraling
You can hear Frank Lucas at http://www.sonicbids.com/LWE
You can hear I,Synthesist at http://www.sonicbids.com/isynthesist

This poll is open until May 31 at which time we will announce YOUR decision.

Only registered forum members can vote!

I really like Spiraling and Frank Lucas, but I'm on 3 other boards where people are talking about using 3 and 4 email addresses to vote for Spiraling multiple times, but I haven't seen the same for Frank. I do know that one of Franks friends bands just put up a post on their own myspace site and that corresponded with the jump. The poll is certainly not terribly legit.

Code the php system so that you cannot vote in a poll if you have less than (x) posts total.

Problem solved.

Music can Name the Unnamable and Communicate the Unknowable.

'I am... everything is... changed... they're calling... your face... interwoven... who is...' Patient mumbles inaudibly to a tune (sounds like 'Thanks for the memory).

It seems to me that if Moog intended for the world to decide who opened for Moogfest, wouldn't they have just put the poll on the website or something? Maybe I'm naive, but it seems to me that if they put it on the Forum, they wanted Forum members to decide. I mean, maybe not, but still... it's sound logic. It is pointless for thousands of people to join this forum, perhaps multiple times, and come here to vote for the person they want. You can't tell me all of these people are Moog fans who will be attending Moogfest? I mean seriously... this just looks like plants voting for each band at the band's bidding. Moog might as well flip a coin to decide.
