Frank Lucas is a talented player, but his music sounds like the kind that is pre-programmed into the keyboards you get at Radio Shack. You know, when you press the "Demo" button.

Spiraling is the shizzay.

SPIRALING SPIRALING SPIRALING

Post by MarvinStrait » Wed May 17, 2006 8:03 pm

Spiraling is AWESOME. It'd be a crime if they didn't get this gig. Tom's an amazing keyboardist who's been using Moogs for years. And Marty, Bob, and Paul kick butt. What a great live band!

Vote for Spiraling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, look at all of the new members, and some of them are fighting after only having been a member for a day. ; )

I think at least two of the selected artists are decent enough... but I still think a band opening for Moogfest should have a MUCH greater Moog presence and appreciation. I mean, come on... Moogfest shouldn't be "I use a Moog product," but rather "MOOG IS MY LIFE."

Wow, maybe I'm not as hip as the rest of you guys but I didn't really care much for Spiralling or Frank Lucas although I can see where they are both great musicians or -ehem- synthesists....The Spiralling was okay but nothing that made me want to listen again and again. The Frank Lucas seemed like one of those technically superior artists who have lots of chops but gets bogged down in technical details of the music instead of writing something straight and honest from the heart - I'm sure he has his market(obviously by the vote), but my ears reject it on the same grounds as other over intellectualized, "pleasant" smooth jazz. Don't be offended though if your a fan of his - I listened to the Stooges at least once a week for the last 8 yrs so I'm coming from an entirely different planet - no, solar system...

I liked the "I, Synthesist" the best but I am also a big Gary Numan fan and the similarity is more than obvious. If I could decide I would pick this I, Synthesist band before the rest but it's a good thing this is a democrazy because it sounds like most of you would rather hear anything but that.

Best of luck to the winner whomever it may be!

I don't particularly care for this at all. Seriously, why does there have to be a winner or a loser. I would pay money to see both Spiralling and FL. Obviously they offer great musicianship, which is not really valued anymore by most people. (Just listen to commercial radio)
Why don't we have both play at Moogfest. Seriously.
It would be a shame otherwise.
