Looks great. THANKYOU MOOG!
They never had to make this but they did and i think we should be very grateful. Its Bobs last design i think and its a fitting tribute indeed!
I love its design and am gonna get one for gigging asap. Itll be far more immediate than the voyager for live use.The voyager is far more of a sound design/studio based synth for me.The LP is a very different product, better for gigging (size/controls)
Im intrigued by the filter overload control, now whats that for guys and gals???
I never had any problems using one dial live on my source for years so this will be a dream synth for me livewise.Im gonna sell some lesser used synths to get this one.
Very excited!
All credit to the moog team

That's sort of what I was thinking.sundaeclubber wrote: From behind though, it reminds me of a traditional English Roll-top bread-bin.
I really like the look of the Little Phatty, I suppose the name doesn't put me off either, now all I want to know is how it sounds like! I will definitely be getting one!

Well, I still don't like the name, but I think the styling more than makes up for it! Will I be buying one? Depends what it sounds like, really, but as a Voyager owner, I'm not sure there will be any need. Time will tell I suppose...

I *knew* it reminded me of something else!
I rather like the Mégane look!.....

No, the Mégane can shake it's ass somewhere else, as far as I'm concerned. However, the new synth has a bit of a retro feel - it could have been designed in the 50s and perhaps that is the point, given that Moog came into being in that decade?

Just one man's oppinion.
i think the LP is great for what it is......
a beginners or gigging analog synth for the high end consumer,
although i think that the fact that it doesnt fold is not convenient for gigging. and that it is not what im looking for in a synth. i always felt that peoples gripes on the price of the voyager were unwarranted. i felt that it was a great value at its price point. i potentially would have paid more. i think that when you combine negative feedback about price and moogmusic's(a company which i absolutely adore) need to create a new and profitable product that is marketable to younger generations accustumed to flashy lights you get the Little Phatty. while i respect the decision that they made due to real market variables, and hope that this targeted market does not choose a microkorg just because it is in every sam ash, and guitar center, and because it is less expensive, more portable, or that it has a vocoder, i hope that somewhere down the line they have a synth in the works that is suitable for a consumer with my desires:
i would have paid 10K american for a synth with voyager-like aspects(comparible by parametric layout and facilitated control features) 6 osc 76 key synth with 2 lfo's 4 mod busses 3 eg's(1 being un-dedicated) and a post envelope tube output section with a cv variable drive stage. i realize that this synth is not for everyone, but neither is the little phatty, and neither is the voyager, but there is a market for it, this i gaurantee!

I like the design, breadbin or not (the space at the back of the Voyager is a great place to stash your sandwiches anyway. Maybe they've gone one better and put a dedicated breadbin into this synth?
)
Seriously - nice design, silly name. Maybe calling it the LP-102 or something might have been better, leaving people to speculate about what LP really does stand for. Moogerfooger is at least as bad, though
But most people won't care what it's called so long as it sounds good. And the smaller and more discreet name plate is less likely to sway someone trying to decide between this and anither synth.
Good idea not to put the name in big letters on the back, though. And a good idea to put Bob Moog's full name on there, so the British version can be the same as the rest of the world. (For those who don't live here, the Moog name was registered by some prat over here and Moog can't use it when badging their products for here, but as Bob Moog was the guy's actual name they seem to be able to use that.)
I'm very pleased they've gone for a cheaper synth than the Voyager, for all the people who'd love a Moog synth but need a lower priced one. As the Voyager's expandable it makes sense to move to the lower end of the market.
And the price, in real terms? I think the dollar price comes out about £800? Compare that with a good guitar, say a Fender Strat. That'd be about £700 plus. So to my mind the LP's very competitively priced as a working musician's instrument. (And another comparison with the Strat - `Stratocaster' is a pretty stupid name when you think about it, and Telecaster is even worse. But we've got past that.)
You could get a Strat copy or a cheaper guitar for less money, or a Mexican Strat. In the same way you could get a cheaper synth than the LP. But you're not just paying for features. You're paying for sound quality and playability. Looked at that way I think the LP is very competitively priced. It'd be nice if it was cheaper, but that's usually the case with anything. For what it is, based on what Moog oscillators and a Moog filter sound like, it should do what it sets out to do very well.
Personally, I'm glad I have the Moog synth with the sensible name, and more particularly the one with the more expressive keyboard and other more musically valuable features. But I'm glad more people who love this sound will be able to afford a good instrument. (Just so long as they don't just use it for robot fart noises, like some synth `players' I could name.

Kudos to Moog!
That is a very sharp looking synth. Very distinctive and attractive. I like the layout and I'm happy that the consumers who campaigned for a new low cost Moog synth finally have their dreams fulfilled. Definitely has a lot of drool factor. I'm sure a rack version will be forthcoming so there will be a less expensive alternative than adding RMEs to the Voyager for extra voices. I'm sure there will be several types of LP just as the Voyager. That will help Moog sales which is always a good thing. Should be strong competition for the DSI MEK. Maybe there will be less expensive LP MFs to accompany it?

Why is it that every synth that has less than three oscillators is immediately labelled a "beginner's synth?" Perhaps I'm responding more to some of the comments I've read elsewhere, but there have been several comments here about LP being "nice for beginners."
As far as analog synths go, the only thing that says "beginner" to me is the fact that it has presets. ; ) Seriously, though... this synth is not a complicated synth, but it's not really LACKING in functionality, either. Sure, you can compare it to Voyager, but Voyager has a LOT of functionality... more than a standard analog synth. I've only glanced over the features... but it looks like this has more features than a Minimoog... and you'd hardly call IT a "beginner's synth," would you? I mean, the Mini doesn't even have four-stage envelopes! No one called The Source a "beginner's synth" despite it's wretched design that suggested you didn't have the competence to operate more than one knob. ; )
It's amusing to think of what modular synth users thought of the Minimoog when it came out. ; )
I guess I'm just urging not to use the Voyager as a model for a "standard" analog synth... it's really far more than that. As a result, the LP is not a "beginner's synth," but rather... a pretty standard analog synth.

I makes me think that if someone new to analog synthesis were to play a Voyager they could get injured!
