Hi..
I am looking for some assistance getting my Sub 37 to work correctly with Reaper. In general, is is working but I have noticed some timing/sync issues when the Sub 37 is in Seq or Arp mode.
Has anyone out there managed to get everything set and working correctly in Reaper?
TIA.
Sub 37 and Reaper
Re: Sub 37 and Reaper
I've been using my Sub 37 with Reaper for quite some time and have not experienced timing problems.
I do often have an issue where Reaper will start up and do something to the Sub 37's MIDI. Odd things might (or might not) happen to the Sub including volume issues, locking up, detuning, MIDI errors.
I haven't really brought up the issue as it's intermittent and I don't want to hear "well Reaper.... blah blah blah...." when every other damn synthesizer, MIDI interface, etc... works fine with Reaper. Only the Sub 37 has issues.
To resolve them I simply turn the Sub 37 off then back on (give it 5 seconds in between) and the problem goes away. The Sub 37 must be on when Reaper starts though or Reaper will not see the Sub's MIDI port.
As for timing though.... Nope. No real issues I can think of. Could you be a bit more specific? Do you have a MIDI file that is causing the problem which you could share?

Re: Sub 37 and Reaper
Hi Flareless
Thank you for the reply. I can't say that I have experienced the issues you see either. Odd.
My issues are really all about timing of the Sub 37 when using the Seq or Arp. The timing is just slightly off (late). It does look similar to a latency issue but I have ruled that out. My PC is i7 and I get great latency figures.
If I program a sequence in Reaper and send that out to the S37 via MIDI there are no issues it comes back in and plays nicely with Reaper's timing. However, if program the same sequence in the S37's sequencer it does not play back right. The first beat will be ok but as the bar goes on it drifts. Not by much but enough to sound crap. I do have the Seq and Arp sync to MIDI and I do get a MIDI clock. I have also tried DIN MIDI and USB MIDI.
Have you tried using your S37 in the same way? That is having a sequence or arpeggio running on the S37 and it having it locked to the DAW timing. It would be interesting to see if you can recreate the issue. Just get an arpeggio patch and trigger it from Reaper. I just have a MIDI item with a chord or note across a bar or two looping.
I did post a query on the Reaper forum but got nothing back, which is surprising as it is one of the more active forums.
Thanks again for your time.

Re: Sub 37 and Reaper
I'll do some tests but I haven't really noticed timing problems whether the sequence played in Reaper or in the Sub 37.
My Sub is in for some keyboard service right now but when it returns I'll do some detailed testing.
