SUB37 Firmware and MIDI ERROR

Post by tonpres » Sat Sep 30, 2017 10:59 am

Hi,

I'm experiencing problems with my Sub37.

It started with a delay in time occurring when sending patches from and to Editor on my Windows 10 computer. Editor and Moog would freeze and I had to restart both to get them going again.

Today Sub37 has frozen for good and I cannot get it working again.

I noticed that the Editor is giving me the option to set up SUB37 for MIDI IN and OUT, and as soon as I disconnect the USB cable, signs in the EDITOR SETTINGS windows turns red, and goes back to yellow when I reconnect the usb cable. Unfortunately SUB37 isn't responding to signals from the editor.

I tried to reinstall the firmware and reinstalled/uninstalled the Midi Driver, and still nothing. What I'm getting now is this:

- Sub37's screen showing this message
: '' FIRMWARE UPDATE – Flash Erased Ready for Code''

- No Midi signal going In or Out SUB 37

- Firmware Updater cannot connect to Sub37, and crashes when switched to advance settings

Manual Update: I get this : Error: Cannot open MIDI output/input device "Moog Sub 37 ":Undefined external error.

I tried reinstalling and uninstalling USB driver, and editor etc.
Also, I checked all my Midi connections on my PC, still nothing.

What to do? I've got the show next Friday and need my Moog. Any suggestions?

I managed to get the S37 going again, by connecting it to MacBook instead Win10PC, and running firmware update from it. It failed during the first attempt, but it successfully updated firmware second time I tried.

Unfortunately I'm experiencing very disturbing issues with S37 now. There is a delay between changing the patch, and it's being activated/ heard. Also when playing a patch with a Arp/sequencer on, it freezes sometimes or sequence is still playing even when the patch was changed. It can take even 30sec for the patch to change!
Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi tonpres,

You might want to check if the parameter: DELAY PROGRAM CHANGE is set to ON.

I say that because it sounds sususpiciously like what you're describing:

{From SUB_37_Manual_v1.1_0.pdf}

DLAY PGM CHG
If Delay Program Change is ON, then a preset change made while a sequence is playing
will be delayed until the end of the sequence. At the downbeat of the first step, it will switch to the newly selected preset. If the new preset also contains an active sequence, it should also begin playing seamlessly at this time. If DLAY PGM CHG is set to OFF (default) the preset will change instantly.

Hope this helps,

Dan, you are the Star!

It was exactly what you said. It seems so obvious now but it wasn't until you said it. Thank you so much! Best!
