Mother "skipping" 16th adjacent Ableton midi notes???

Post by dudewalkingon » Wed Apr 19, 2017 11:36 pm

I have never gotten my M32's to play nice with Ableton midi. If I do a constant 16th note pattern, every other note is dropped. ANY 16th note following a previous note is skipped. It still plays the note on the 8th. Three 16ths in a row plays only the first note.

I have midi routing correctly as far as I can tell. It is synced and playing obviously. When I use my SQ1 or the M32's seuquencer, 16th notes play. Sooo, it must be an Ableton thing? Or the way M32 receives?

I know this has to be something simple, but I can't figure it...

Can't wait for the DFAM build at Moogfest - Should pair nicely with the M32 :)

I don't use Ableton so I can't be specific, but I'm wondering if it has to do with note overlap.

See if shortening the Gate Time of those MIDI notes has a positive effect.

If you have MIDI Monitor (Mac) or MidiOX (PC) you should be able to see if some of the previous notes are ending after the new notes start.

Bingo... though more complicated than I thought. They were not overlapping, rather the push two basically sets the gate for 100% of the beat and the M32 didn't like that. So I added a note length midi effect got slightly less than the beat length and presto!

Thanks for the idea!
