No sound - Intermittent problem

Post by geeksmusic » Mon Apr 17, 2017 5:55 am

Hello,

I'm having some issues with my Moog Sub 37. I bought it about a month ago, and it's a 2015 model. I'm enjoying this synth so much, Moog knows how to do proper synthesisers :) . However, yesterday, I went through some weird problems.

The latest firmware is installed : 1.2.0
I swapped output cables and checked my inputs : no problem here

It started with some kind of subtle noise that was added to a simple waveform from any of the two oscillators, the filter was all the way up. After a while the synth just stopped outputting sound (in fact there was some noise that was close to almost no audible (just seeing it on the fader level of my RME). So there was simply no sound, whatever key was pressed, or knob turned. After rebooting, same problem. The thing is that after a while, it started to work again, without noise, without any issue, then, back to no sound. Same problem with the headphone output.

This morning I tried the synth, and now, there is no problem. I tried to go with the heaviest sound possible, and checked the filter, the envelopes etc... No problem. I also decided to reset the settings, and upload again the firmware.

I guess, if it was a sound path issue (Filter, VCA etc...), it should have stayed consistant? My guess is that it must have been a software, firmware issue? Yesterday I was playing with the Editor, maybe there was a bug? I have no idea. I just hope that things will not go back to no sound. I'm open for testing with anyone if needed. and will report if I get the issue again.

Thanks :)

What shall I do? Shall I go to the shop (I live in paris) where I bought it? Knowing that I might not be able to demonstrate the issue.

Hello,

I have been testing my Sub 37 for the entire day. And I was not able to replicate the issus. Finally, every time I use it, I get so impressed by the possibilities and the great sound. It's such a great synth.

In fact yesterday, before having problems, I used the editor, so my guess is that the synth went through some conflicts or other things software related. Since the sound is working now, it can't be the audio signal path.

Thanks for reading :)

I've had an issue that may be related or possibly the same..? I use the standalone editor and a Windows 10 system. My issue, when it's non-responsive, I notice the buttons on the front interface don't respond (apart from the Programming section on the left). If the issue happens again, try pressing some of the buttons and see if the lights change accordingly. Mine came with the latest firmware, so I haven't tried a reset/firmware upload.

Thanks for your help :)
I really think the issue we had is related to the editor.
