Confused new RME owner

Post by FlameTop » Sat Mar 11, 2006 8:43 am

Hello,

I have just purchased a new RME. Having got it home I found it had version 2.6 installed. I have downloaded and follwoed the instructions for version 3.1. The RME now boots and shows its boot and run version as 3.1.

However, I cannot find any way to change banks. The display always shows 'B1' in the top right corner. The keyboard version I tried in the shop used the 'cursor' button to scroll banks. On my RME this just brings up 'compare'.

Does this mean I have an old RME that cannot hold the new 3.0 banks? If so I'm pretty annoyed to spend so much money to find I have features missing. Is there any way to access the 3.0 banks via the editor/librarian (which I also purchased)?

Any help most welcome.

Thanks

FT

It sounds like you have an older version that does not have the verson 3 hardware. In that case you would only have one bank of presets. If you do have the new hardware, you would hold down "cursor" and then press up or down (+1 and -1 buttons) to scroll banks up or down.

Thank your for the confirmation. I will take the issue up with the shop. I expressely asked if the RME was different from the kayboard version I tried (apart from the touch panel).

:(

Not a great feeling; paying for a new product and finding you have been short-changed on features.

no man, it should be ok. just check for the hardware upgrade.

i recently got the RME too.

although my midi keyboard ain't got aftertouch,
i've since assigned the release switch and glide switch to a slider,
it's just as good as the full voyager.

i just need that darned vx-352 to come out real soon.

I contacted the shop and they were shocked as they had been assured that the RME in question was the latest hardware version. A new unit is on order which will be exchanged.
