Hemi is Greek for "half". How about a parred down version of the Voyager? IMO it is what the market is crying out for.

1. All these older analog boards are too unreliable for constant stage use.
2. There are many companies making analog synths these days, but they are all rackmount modules with no physical "key-boards". The only contemporary boards are the Voyager or the older and unreliable Novation Bass station. We really need a mid-pricerange gigable/reliable analog bass synth!

There's a huge gap in the market and I think Moog should fill it by making a smaller cut-down version of the Voyager. Perhaps not unlike the Rogue...
2 osc.
2 1/2 or 3 octave keyboard
cut-down modulation routing
lose the memory, the lcd, and the 3 dimensional pad, the hinged panel.
midi in/out
add a simple fun arpeggiator like the one on the Roland Juno-60
if possible, keep the build quality (wood/metal/big chuncky knobs)

If you could price it around $800 or less, I think you'll have a gold mine on your hands. Why not?

i totally get what you're saying truncheon. it would be amazing if moog made some more modern versions of synths like the source, prodigy, or rogue. me, being a 16-year-old who busted my ass off all summer to get the money for a moog prodigy, could use a modern, more cost effective moog. if i had the money i would definately get the voyager, but me, like many others can't exactly afford a $2000 keyboard. overall, for me there is absolutely no other synth that sounds quite like the moog, and these modern "analog modeling synths" just don't do it. moog is moog and it should continue to make the same quality synth's that it has been making for years; a modern, cost effective synth made by the company would be perfect for the many keyboarders out there who want to tap into that rich moog sound and get the "bang for their buck."

just read my topic "new Moog product". It´s just what you said. I totally agree with you. Even my hernia would love a smaller synth, of course a Moog. Gigging with Voyagers is great but exausting. I´d love a little new Rogue or Source (much better than Prodigy because of the sync-sounds), especially for solos, not just for basses.

I've owned over 40 synths and I keep thinking of this ideal synth (basically what I stated earlier). I'm waiting for someone to come out with it... In the meantime I've tried a lot of the newer analog stuff (Neptune, Evolver, Nov. Super Bass Station) = all ok in their own right. I know companies go with the rackmount or desktop module cuz its cost effective, but I want a analog synth with a keyboard that not only sounds cool, but looks cool. It's worth the extra money.

Let me rephrase: One of my fav. synths is the Matrix 1000. But it sucks to gig with it playing a crappy faux silver/metal oxygen 8. It'll deliver the sound, but it won't get me laid. Image too is necessary.

I cannot repeat it often enough: You guys are perfectly right. Feeling and looking at a synth is an (at least to me) extraordinary important topic. That´s why I hate software synths (by the way: they sound as ugly as they look, too). I´m not made out of software*, hence I need a living and "breathing" synth.

Please Mr. Moog, give the people what they want.

Well, yes, I will admit that it is a lot like a PRO-ONE. Do I need to move to the Dave Smith forums? It'd be nice if he made a reissue with some of the nice features of the Evolver.

IMO the direction MoogMusic should travel should be the same as it did back in the day. The minimoog has always been the trunk of a tree which branched off to fill specific niches with smaller synths. I don't want another liberation or Source (because they kick ass, as is)...but I would love another guitar held moog or another little lead ripper! Or how about organ friendly synth like an opus or stacked CDX? Hopefully the voyager will be the flagship to a whole array of individual synths.

That's pretty much what everyone's talking about when it comes to Moog synths. I bought a micromoog cause it sounds GREAT and doesn't cost a fortune ($350-400). The only piss off is that when it breaks down, you're pretty much on your own. Moog needs to re-release Micromoog / Multimoog type synths again (I don't really enjoy the Rogue/Prodigy/MG) or at least something cheaper than the Voyager.

A message to Bob Moog:

We need more expression and emotion in today's music. I suspect that the introduction of a cost-effective yet still powerful 1-2 oscillator synth to the market will help promote the all-expression and all-emotion aspect of MOOG and of music overall.

Not many people can pay up to $3000 for a synth. If you could build the Micromoog / Multimoog back in the 70's and 80's, you certainly should do it again.

Yeah, a smaller and more affordable synth would be on my wishlist too...
How about the following specs:
2 vcos
1 vca
1 vcf
1 adsr
1 noise
1 ring modulator
3 octave keyboard & mod and pitch wheel
midi
all cv ins & outs available without having to buy a break out box
wooden panels
some blue leds would look cool
black panel
that's all it needs to have.

Martin- you do realize even the Voyager doesn't have a ring modulator or all the ins and outs (that's what the VX-351 is for!). The point is, if you want something more cost-effective, corners must be cut. I"m off to play with my Voyager!
