Vibrato pressure better on Signature than on Performer?

Post by fietspomp » Sat May 14, 2016 11:59 am

I bought a Performer Edition a week ago to replace my Signature because of the pressure mod and the fact that the PE has more presets.

However, I have problem with the aftertouch vibrato which I got working on the Signature. My old presets behave differently now. When playing without applying pressure the vibrato already starts working.

On my Signature I could put the amount of vibrato low enough so that you could hardly hear it when playing without using aftertouch.

I used the mod bus to do that (source: saw, dest: pitch, shaper: pressure and amount 11/12). This worked fine.

But on the Performer there seems to be a minimum threshold or something with the effect that the lowest amount of vibrato is already too much for my taste. I am now thinking about returning the PE. Fortumately I did not sell my Signature yet

Does anyone know this problem or has even a solution for it? Is the pressure mod the cause?

I have the same thougt! I bought the Voyager because the sub 37 was to unreliable. With the Sub i was able to do nice and subtle vibrato on both aftertouch and with the modwheel. With the Voyager there seems to be, as you said, a threshold. It is almost impossible to do subtle wich in a live setting could work but for smooth leads in a studio setting i want to be able to do a seamless transition to vibrato.

Please share if you get some info from the tech support! :)

The Old School has a different mod bus wich works like a charm! It seems that you will need the vx-351 and an external attenuator with cv controlled amount to do the same with the voyager (not old school)

all i know on this is that i had the aftertouch upgraded on my signature to make it work more gradual. before it was more of a on/off effect
but that was a hardware upgrade...
since then it works as desired.
no experience though with the performer as i always sticked to my ( upgraded) signature edition since then
