Sub 37 + ?

Post by RudiFeels » Tue Aug 30, 2016 3:47 pm

I have a sub 37 and would like to add another oscillator/voice to it. I initally purchased a mother-32 recently to pair with it which i've been sending midi too from the sub 37 and then routing the audio into the sub 37's external input. My question is would a minitaur or a used slim phatty be a better option for what i'm looking for. To my knowledge the mother-32 can't be polychained but the minitaur can. Also keep in mind i'm looking to add more voices/ rather then another synth. So far it seems like the minitaur would be better for this but the mother 32 is more versatile. Any input?

I use a Minitaur, it works well. The Minitaur is also really good for deep bass duties on its own..needless to say they complement each other very well.

Polychaining one synth off of the sub37 is kind of pointless, since you can't do it in duo mode. I know the difference between duo paraphonic and two notes of polyphony, don't get me wrong. But I'm saying it's almost not worth doing unless you're adding 2 or more. Minitaurs are great for this because they are so cheap. Street price is about $425 new, or 300-350 used. Pick up 3 or 4 and you're on to something. Setting them up is a bit tedious, but if you're leaving them chained it's no big deal.

I use a Sub Phatty as an extra oscillator for the Sub 37. Works well but cant poly chain them. If you could I would get another. But can probably get a used Sub P at a good price.
