Analog Rytm's impulse machine and Sub 37
Analog Rytm's impulse machine and Sub 37
So the new analog rytm update has got an interesting addition, an impulse machine for triggering other gear. I'm still a bit confused as to how to use it with my Sub 37 - guessing it could be used to advance the arpeggiator in the classic 707/Juno style? Not much info in the manual (attached) and I'm a complete novice when it comes to CV and the like, so any tips would be much appreciated.

I'm not sure it will advance the sequencer that way, I've never looked into that operation. The CV inputs on the sub can be mapped to just about anything, but they aren't all the same.
I think the pulse generator would be best connected to the Gate input on the sub37. It can handle simple on/off messages for things that operate in an on/off manor. Things that come to mind would be turning glide on and off, for some TB303 style sequencing, or changing filter slopes, or possibly turning Ratchet on and off for the sequencer.

Re: Analog Rytm's impulse machine and Sub 37
The KB Gate input can be mapped to a parameter called "Step Adv" to advance the seq/arp one step. Look in the manual under Global Menu Parameters, or on the Mapping page of the Editor.
I don't know the requirements on the incoming pulse for the Sub 37 to recognize it. Probably no more than +5 volts. Maybe a positive-going pulse? (Although there's a global setting described on the same page to invert the sense of the input.)
Sounds like fun! Good luck!

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks a lot. Tbh I've been on the road and away from internet / my gear for the last while, will report back once I get the chance to experiment a bit...mikeh11 wrote:The KB Gate input can be mapped to a parameter called "Step Adv" to advance the seq/arp one step.
