Voyager Patch Library not included?

Post by Kramereng » Thu Feb 02, 2006 5:09 pm

WTF is this? I just paid several thousands of hard earned dollars to find that Moog doesn't include the Patch Librarian - it sells it for $80 extra?! Am I just missing my CD in my box or is Moog really trying to squeeze us for every last penny. If so - I'll be pirating my librarian.

WEAK.

The librarian is not free as it's not developed by Moog but Soundtower. You don't really need it with the knobs and extensions of the Voyager but the editor is definitely nice. I don't want to get into the whole pirating thing :(

Well, if Moog doesn't make it I guess that's ok. But since they advertise it on their website, one can be easily confused. I have a Mac - does that mean it's a no go?

The current MAC version (1.07) on the Moog site works fine on OSX. It's just soundtower supposedly released an updated version (already availabe for PC) for the Mac that had new features and dealt with the new Bank option the Voyager has.

I'm beginning to think this update isn't even complete. I freakin wrote soundtower support and recieved no response. These things should be availabe on their site and is frustrating for registered users of the software like me and others.

Now, now. Give the guys at SountTower a break. It's tough work and very time consuming. I don't think there a lot of people on this project, so things can go at a snail's pace sometimes. That said, they should respond to emails, even if the reply is "you'll get it when you get it".

I just can't understand why they posted in this forum that the new mac version was available with links to the update.... but no update! Seems kinda strange. :?

Thx for the input guys. I've also heard that you can use other free software to do the same ("Sysex Librarian"). Though I tried that software on my NL2 and it didn't do bleep or I don't know what I'm doing (quite possible). Any thoughts?

I guess my main goal is to just shop thru some d/f patches, particularly sub bass patches, so I don't need to waste time creating them from scratch (sub bass is bass, IMO). Hope these help. I especially like to load banks according to pads, bass, leads, etc. - I'm obsessively organized.

Sysex Librarian is really good for sending Sysex files. Whether it be sending OS updates to your synth of choice or patches. But the soundtower librarian/editor is entirely different. It has all the controls of the voyager in software form. You can visually see the control settings per patch on the editor, group patches to your category of choice etc. If you want to scroll and audition patches fast then you should get the editor.

And no doubt I was giving Soundtower the benefit of the doubt. But they posted in the forum about the mac update being released and then disappeared. People obvioulsy like the editor otherwise we wouldn't be wanting this mac update. A simple status release would be enough to shut me up but don't wave the lollypop in my face then go away

What's this about a beta version? Is the Mac update a beta version also? I don't wanna be a ginnea pig testing unfinished, buggy software - I want something solid and reliable that works!

:-(

Hi all,
I just posted most of this note in another thread by way of expanation for the update misdirection.

I want to thank you for your patience and hope this clears up some of your questions. If anything is left hanging please email us back. I never ignore emails if it is at all humanly possible.

By way of explanation, I have been off sick since the day after the first note. Even though I had the flu shot this year I was knocked off my feet with some sort of bug that took me out of the picture. To be fair to the rest of the crew it is my job to man the boards. My apologies.

Since we had a great deal of interest, as you can all imagine, in the upcoming update for MAC and though we were not quite there we wanted to give a link to our beta site for those of you so inclined to play with 'rougher' software to get a sense of it and perhaps to send us any suggestions. We have a good history with this board regarding fantastic suggestions that we have quite often incorporated in the software.

We definitely NEVER want to treat anyone as guinea pigs and in my haste I must have mistyped the version number.

So, where to find it?

The 1.5.0 OSX Voyager is available now and only from MOOG site.

To the another issue mentioned on the other thread: the compatibliity (or apparent lack of) with OS version 10.4.4

We suspect at this point the OS 10.4.4 might be an issue with 'midi out' but this is still to be verified. We are in contact with the good people at Apple regarding this. At this point in our testing all older OS versions prior, including 10.4.3 (we use this in our own operations,) work. We are on this and will rectify the situation one way or the other.

I hope this answers the questions posted and goes someway to removing some of the concerns you may have.

thanks as always

Derek

Awesome! The ability to switch banks (A, B, C, D, E, F, G) is great! Now I can go back to my master library list and send them to the different banks. Thanks again for this update and supporting Mac users. BTW, hope you're feeling better now. I have a little cold myself right now and haven't had much voyager time. Sick or not, you can bet I'll be using the new editor today :)

Wonderful to hear that you appreciate and can use the banks! Let me know what you think of the editor now overall when you get to it.

Tell all your friends!

I'm back in the pink; thanks for asking.

I notice when I switch banks on the editor, the displayed bank doesn't correspond with the voyager. Voyager just stays on bank A regardlesss of what bank I select in the editor. Am I missing something here?

Ditto. I've got the same problem. Also, how do I switch banks in Preset Genetics? It seems stuck on bank C for some reason, and I can't switch it.
