Moog Voyager OSX Editor update plus a new PC v.1.2 beta

Post by SoundTower_Help_Desk » Wed Jan 25, 2006 4:23 pm

Hi all,

Back on Jan 2 ’06 I wrote to let you know that SoundTower had finished the latest update for Moog Voyager PC Editor v.1.2.

Since then we have the OSC version update ready for our Mac customers.

Added are 7 banks to the editor main screen for both the OSX and PC versions. This expands your ability to sort and manage your banks to an amazing degree of detail.

The PC beta version (PC Ed v.1.2 beta) is the same as the new update v.1.2 only we added the 7 extra banks.

Updated is the Bank management and Patch Librarian feature.

A more flexible Bank management and Patch Librarian where multiple
User Bank presets can be moved in blocks.

Moving beyond the present drag and drop of single presets from the
User Bank to the library and back using your mouse, a new control
feature has been added for convenience of multiple drag and drops.
As simple as selecting multiple presets with the mouse and the
clicking of a button, multiple programs are moved to and from: User
Bank to Librarian to Category.

To view screen shots (these are PC version for now) and walk through the new feature you are invited to go to:

http://www.soundtower.com/moog/help/index.htm

and click on the "Preset Bank and Librarian" link to the left.

Update for both can be obtained through:

http://www.soundtower.com/moog/index.htm

or:

http://www.moogmusic.com/detail.php?main_product_id=138

I can’t thank those of you enough that send in your suggestions for improving the functionality of the editors. I hope we have gone some distance in improving your creative experiences in your music.

Thanks again from the SoundTower team:

The posted link for the Mac Editor update doesn't seem to work in Apple's Safari browser. Using the supplied link (www.soundtower.com/moog/index.htm), I get the same old ST page as before. It says that the Mac Editor version is still 1.07, posted March 18, 2005.

Only the old version of the editor for Mac OSX is available at moogmusic.com. So why do they send out a special e-mail and ask us to download version 1.2?

Yep. Old version is on the moog site for sure. I take it too since we have to download the demo, our registration will still work to enable the full version when we get updates like this?

What's this about a beta version? Is the Mac update a beta version also? I don't wanna be a ginnea pig testing unfinished, buggy software - I want something solid and reliable that works!

I just bought the app and I'm a bit sad that the 1.07 version keeps crashing out on my G5.

I running the same version on my G4 with OS 10.2.8 and no problems! Can you get to work at all (i.e. transmit/recieve sounds)?

Yep, it works excellently, when it works. But it'll just crash out every few minutes. I don't have to be twiddling it or anything just, blammo, gone. :(

I'm on OS 10.4.4 and using an Emagic AMT8 interface. I suspect the problem is the OS version since it's buggered up my MIDI interface settings in Logic (AMT8 isn't recognised now). And also my hideously expensive G5 now chirps audibly around once a second.

Wish I'd stuck with OS9... gah.

I'm on a Dual 1.25 G4 OSX10.4. No problems with editor here and it's never crashed on me with my Motu midi interfaces. Could it be the latest 10.4.4? I'm fickle when it comes to OS updates. 10.4 Works sweet for me and my gear.

Hmmm... I'm going to try running it on my Powerbook to see if it's any better. Shouldn't make any diff as it's the same OS version but you never know, eh?

A belated Hello to all those that responded to the fist note I made in this thread.

I'll start with a personal note here: I have been off sick since the day after the first note. Even though I had the flu shot this year I was knocked off my feet with some sort of bug that took me out of the picture. To be fair to the rest of the crew it is my job to man the boards. My apologies.

That being said the issue of the 'beta' and the OS version problem has been noted or addressed now.

First, the 'beta.'

We had a great deal of interest, as you can all imagine, in the upcoming update for MAC and though we were not quite there we wanted to give a link to our beta site for those of you so inclined to play with 'rougher' software to get a sense of it and perhaps to send us any suggestions. We have a good history with this board regarding fantastic suggestions that we have quite often incorporated in the software.

We definitely NEVER want to treat anyone as guinea pigs. This is not the impression I wanted to leave.

So, where to find it?

The 1.5.0 OSX Voyager is available now and only from MOOG site.

To the other issue on this thread: the compatibliity (or apparent lack of) with OS version 10.4.4

We suspect at this point the OS 10.4.4 might be an issue with 'midi out' but this is still to be verified. We are in contact with the good people at Apple regarding this. At this point in our testing all older OS versions prior, including 10.4.3 (we use this in our own operations,) work. We are on this and will rectify the situation one way or the other.

I hope this answers the questions posted and goes someway to removing some of the concerns you may have.

thanks as always

Derek

First, sorry to hear you've been poorly, hope you're all better now. Thanks for the update!

As for the crashes I've been experiencing, I agree that it's most likely 10.4.4 / Core Midi that's at issue since it's also buggering-up Logic 7.1. Ah well, serves me right for jumping in too early!
