Midi velocity off?

Post by Johanivansson » Tue Sep 01, 2015 2:02 am

Does anyone know if it's possible to turn midi velocity out OFF? I want to play a Yamaha FB01 with my Voyager and I don't seem to be able to turn velocity off on the FB01.

Hi Johanivansson,

Technically, you can't turn "off" MIDI Note Velocities as that information is an inherent part of every MIDI Note On and MIDI Note Off.

What you're really asking is: Can the MIDI Notes coming from the Voyager's MIDI OUT can have their Note On Velocities set to a specific value (like 64, 100, or 127).

The best way to do that is with this box:

It can be special ordered from Sweetwater or other MIDI-savy music stores.

For the same price, you could get this "Swiss Army Knife" Event Processor, which can do nearly anything you tell it to do to a MIDI message (up to 10 different things at once), including Velocity processing:
