Favorite Sub37 CV Mappings?

Post by jsharpphoto » Wed Aug 12, 2015 5:57 pm

Well, we can't change the Filter CV, and the Gate CV can only be mapped to an on/off function.... so what are your favorite things to map the Pitch and Volume CV's to?

I really like to send a step sequencer to the VCA Release, with a sync'd arpeggiator. I'm a sucker for variable release times.

Discuss.

55 views and no responses. Did you guys not know you could remap the inputs? Or is talking about your settings considered insider trading?

Would love to check out a recording of this, I'm curious about the interesting sounds you can get from different cv mapping combos!

I'm a fan of mapping the filter decay. Always adds a great deal of variation to a sequence.

Mapping one of them to RTCHT CT (Ratchet Count) is a bunch of fun.

Just toggle RATCHET to ON for most or all of your Sequence's Steps.

Now, sweeping an external controller will make your steps Ratchet anywhere between 1 and 8 counts in real time.

In PRESET EDIT, you can got to (PRESET EDIT 1.2) SEQUENCER / MOD DST (Seq Mod Destination) and set it to: AEG REL.

Now, the Seq Mod value (stored for each Step) will modulate the Amp EG's Release Time.

Make sure the SEQ MOD AMT is a non-zero value.

Then, experiment with the ARPEGGIATOR (PRESET EDIT 1.1) GATE LENGTH, which will significantly alter the effect of varying Release Times for each note.

Obviously, this is not the same as having a separate Arpeggiator and Step Sequencer; but it will allow you to have a Sequencer with separately-crafted Amp EG Release Times per Step.
