advice please

I just bought some moog products. Specifically the ring modulator, Cp 251, Low pass filter, phaser, murf, and resonator. I am just getting started and have been experimenting a bit, but I found this forum and was wondering if anyone who has been using any of these have some advice. Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Forgot to mention also I am a drummer. There really is not anything specific that I need to ask right now, but there are so many awesome things to do and I just barely scratched the surface. So I was wondering if there was any general advice for the newbie. I am sure I will need some specific advice in the future though.

In go from outs and you have to use 1/4" cables, you also have to plug them in to power them up.

What instrument are you using them with? Drums?

If you aren't using any instrument with them, then use the MF-101 low-pass filter, turn the volume on your amplifier down, crank the resonance to 10 so that you have a sound to work with. Then put the audio signal through the other pedals to see what they do. Then plow through the manuals and use some of the sample settings - since you've got all of the moogerfoogers, you should be able to do all of the sample settings...

Thanks hieronymous. I using them with v drums. I've been through the manuals and have been playing with the samples. I work long hours so I have not had alot of time to go much further than that. That's kind of why I am asking for additional advice. I am trying to learn as much as I can and try as many new things as I can in the time I have off. It seems like I barley get started before its time to sleep or go back to work.

Well,

It sounds like the best advice is for you to read through some of the threads here and definitely check out Squarewave for a ton of information.

Just don't plug more then one CV source into a multiple and you'll be fine. Aside from that, plug some things into some other things and turn knobs all over and listen to all the awesome sounds you can make.

If you are using drums, I would start with the 101 and use either an EP-1 or the LFO out of another MF to modulate the filter's cutoff. That is a pretty basic place to start.

I guess another question is: What kind of sounds are you looking for? The possibilities are almost limitless. I think that's why it's hard for people here to make suggestions, because we're not sure what it is that you want to do! Also, I'm not sure how many people here play drums through their moogerfoogers, so that makes it even more difficult. I think it just might take time to get to know each pedal, and to begin to sense what potential lies in each pedal. Once you begin to understand the basics of modular synthesis, ideas start popping into your head as to what kind of stuff you can begin to coax out of these things...
