I just bought a Moog Midi Murf after selling my MF 101 and I'm trying to hook it to my computer so I can update the firmware and do some pattern editing. I have an old generic usb to midi cable and for the life of me I can't get it to work? I connected the midi out of the cable to the midi in of the Murf then I hooked the midi in of the cable to the midi out of my Motu track 16. What's throwing me off is the Murf just has the midi in?. I'm running Win 8 and I would appreciate any help thanks.

Re: Moog Midi For (old) Dummies
Yes, the MuRF is MIDI-in only.
I take it you are using the editor plug-in?
I use MIDI-OX to monitor MIDI activity. Does the MOTU show MIDI activity when you are trying to send CC's or new patterns to the MuRF?
Are you saying the editor plug doesn't recognize the USB cable or the MOTU as available MIDI ports?
In the other thread you mention MIDI channels. Set the channel in the editor to match whichever channel you want to send messages on. Whether the channel is the same as other program material depends on how you want the MuRF to respond. For LFO sync or other functions it may be easier to set up a separate MIDI channel in your DAW with a dedicated port off the MOTU and insert CC's as needed.
