MIDI in issues

I'm having MIDI issues. Here's the deal:

> I'm using Ableton.
> I can record MIDI to Ableton just fine with the Voyager.
> I can record sound just fine to Ableton with the Voyager.
> My Sub 37 can use MIDI recorded from Voyager just fine.
> My Voyager can't use any sort of MIDI: not from itself, not from the Sub 37, nor hand drawn MIDI.
> The Voyager will sporadically play sound when MIDI triggered, but it's unpredictable and usually not the right note.
> The MIDI light on the panel lights up when Ableton sends a MIDI signal.
> The Voyager is at version 3.5.
> I've tried unplugging MIDI out, to no avail.
> I've tried every combination of input/output track/sync/remote in Ableton's preferences.
> I've tried MIDI from different USB ports.
> I've tried sending and using other channels on the Voyager.

I had a lot of trouble getting MIDI to work on the Sub 37, but finally found the problem was a small setting somewhere on the synth menu. I've looked around the Voyager menu, but haven't a similar setting.

If anyone's had a similar experience, I'd love to know how you fixed it. I've tried searching the forum for "midi problems", but it won't let me search for "midi" because it's too common...

Check "Master" mode 2.3 for MIDI IN ON/OFF enable function.

I forgot to mention that, but yeah, MIDI in is enabled.

I downloaded a random MIDI file online, and for some reason it recognized that and started playing fine for a while. Then as soon as it started working, it stopped again.

Again, everything I do works fine with my Sub 37, which makes me think it's something on the Voyager side, not the computer. The only trouble I have with my Sub 37 is syncing the tempo from Ableton. That makes it go completely haywire.

Could the problem be with the MIDI cord itself? It's a pretty standard one.

MIDI cables seem to go bad faster than audio cables. YMMV.
