MULTI TRIG in DUO mode

Post by kimsnarf » Fri May 08, 2015 1:12 am

Hi all

I think the DUO mode is great for playing a bass note together with the melody. However, holding down a bass note and playing a melody is treated as playing legato, which does not cause notes beyond the first to trigger. When playing tones that do not sustain this means the sound disappears after the first trigger. Turning on MULTI TRIG solves this for the melody part, but this also causes the held bass note to retrigger on each note, which sounds weird. Is there a way to trigger only the pressed key, not the held key?

In this mode, releasing a key also causes the held key to retrigger. Is there a way to avoid triggering the held key on release of another key?

Basically I'm looking for a way to retrigger only pressed keys, not held keys, when playing legato. On a polyphonic synth this behavior can be turned on and off by toggling the MONO mode. I was hoping for something similar for DUO mode.

I don't think so :( both voices share the same envelopes so what happens to one voice will happen to the other.

It doesn't work that way. Being paraphonic rather than polyphonic everything after the oscillators is shared so you can't retrigger envelopes independently.

Thank you for explaining this. I think DUO mode is a nice bonus in any case and I now understand it better. Playing it encourages harmonies that are not apparent on polyphonic synths.
