It's a good solution to fatten things up for sure. If you listen to the demo, I've detuned each oscillator *just* a bit. Still, the third oscillator makes a big difference!

My exact thoughts: where is the MIDI IN on the Werkstatt? I suppose somehow it must be added. But there, (MIDI) I'm lost.

Any help most welcome,

Here's what I found: https://www.sparkfun.com/news/1617

A bit beyond my skills though. I would pay someone to do this for me

While not difficult, adding MIDI is not really a beginners thing. I used this: http://www.midi-hardware.com/index.php? ... uct=MINIcv and didn't even hook up the Gate (yet).

As an alternative, for about the same price you can get a MicroBrute with MIDI built in and it is a great little synth on its own.

Yep! Either the Micro or Minibrute are a nice compliment to the Sub37. I have just been playing around with using the Minibrute as a 3rd Oscillator to the 37 and it works very nicely indeed - definitely adds that extra phasing which was missing from the 2 OSC tone.

Alternatively, there are also the

Vermona Mono Lancet and the Doepfer Dark Energy II. Any comment about these?

Ive tried this with a dsi mopho but the mopho oscillators are a little brighter than the moog's so had to filter it a little to match. I also need to set midi filters so that either the sub 37 doesn't transmit cc data or the mopho ignores it. Haven't yet tried with the ms20 mini.
Moog Sub 37, DSI Mopho KB, Korg ms20 mini, Korg M50, Korg Karma, Yamaha Motif Xf6, Yamaha DX7, Novation K Station, Waldorf Blofeld, Siel DK80, cyclone analogic tt 303

Nothing specific other than to say any synth with mid will work. Also, these are a little more expensive. I haven't used either...

mmarsh100 wrote:Yes, any synth can be used this way (I use a Werkstatt):

* Connect MIDI OUT of 37 to Synth
* Connect Audio out of Synth to Ext IN of 37
* Use Ext/FB Mixer knob on 37 to add in the Synth

NOTE: I turn up the filter all the way on the Werkstatt and set all modulation off to get pure oscillator out. This gives me a nice 3-Osc sound in the Sub 37: https://soundcloud.com/mmarsh/3oscdemo.
In the case of a Little Phatty + a Slim Phatty, is there an advantage to routing the Slim Phatty audio out through the Little Phatty audio in, over just combining the two in a mixer? I'm asking because a Slim Phatty basically is a Little Phatty without the keyboard, meaning they have the exact same filter etc.

Hi folks,
this topic caught my interest, and based on mmarsh100's post, I thought I would try extending the sound of the Sub 37 with a Korg Volca Bass - it was a simple job to hook up a midi cable and feed the output of the volca back in to the Sub 37 - sounds really big, especially if you detune the 3 volca oscillators slightly - very nice to have this option on hand, thanks for the suggestion :)

What happens when the Volca is midi'd and you turn up the glide on the Sub? Does / can the Volca glide too?

The Glide adjustments don't seem to affect the volca , however the volca midi implementation chart does that the glide / slide value can be altered by using CC5 (when global parameter MIDI RX ShortMessage is set to ON) - tbh I'm not sure what the bit in brackets actually means or how I would check if it is on :)
