Damaged voyager?

Post by Dvd16901 » Mon Feb 09, 2015 10:12 pm

I recently purchased a used voyager on ebay. After messaging the seller a few times he assured me the voyager was in good condition and functioned properly, used only in a studio setting. Well it arrived today, shipped in a moog ATA roadcase. It looks fine, but when turned on, the screen doesn't come on, and loud electronic noises come from my speaker. Any ideas? (I'm at work so I can't check it out til tonight.)

Call service and see if it is still under warranty.

Something might have jostled loose during shipping (ribbon connector). It happens.

Or something could be so screwed up, it will take shipping cost and time/headache in order to get it repaired.

As MC suggested, call Moog immediately... they may instruct you to try a few things. If that doesn't work or you don't get any joy in a day or two, you might want to grab a refund unless you got a killer deal or are married to this particular Voyager (maybe it's the color combination that is very rare and you have been searching for)?

An update on my damaged voyager: The screen finally turned on, but to my dismay, the master volum doesn't work. And notes are always on. And after inspecting a very wiggly key bed, removed the panel underneath to find all the little plastic mounts that secure the keys in place were all broken. The keys ad no longer playable, they lay flat in their coffin that is my voyager. :( The shipper has filed a claim with ups. I saw another thread that described my volume issue and noted an IC as the culprit. I hope to get all this fixed, but it sucks having waited for this so long, only to have to wait some more! Agh!
