Sub 37 Poly Mode

Post by Jherrera » Thu Sep 25, 2014 9:45 pm

Love the synth. Different in important ways than my SP, thus helping me rationalize keeping them both.

I've looked far and wide for a clear explanation (that works) of how to appropriately set the newish Poly Mode on the Sub 37.

First:

Can I use my SP and the Sub 37 as a 3-voice polyphonic synth in poly mode? If so, what should the Poly Mode settings on both the SP and Sub be? No combination of settings has worked for me thus far.

In a similar vein, can I use the Sub 37, the SP, and a Minitaur as a 4-voice polyphonic unit? Same request as above.

Any help would be much appreciated. Working on a record that's yearning for this potential fatness.

Sub Phatty will need a firmware update for poly ... See this thread...

Sub 37 Poly Chain

In the mean time you can still midi them together creating a 4 osc mono synth and get some spectacular sounds.

My understanding is that you can polychain both the Little Phatty (and it's variants), the Minitaur, and the Sub 37. You have to set up poly mode on each synth in the chain. Exactly how is in the manuals for each synth. The Sub Phatty does not currently support polychaining but will in an upcoming firmware update.

I very much regret selling my Slim Phatty, I sold it in February when the Sub 37 got announced to fund it, little did I know I'd be waiting til Sept and by then I'd have wasted the money I got from selling the SP. I'll have to get my hands on another one down the line for some poly chaining action with my 37.

Has anyone tried it with their Slim P/LP/Mintaurs yet? If so how easy is it to get good results with poly considering they are all different voices?

That 'different voice' thing is interesting: I have three MI Shruthi's that I polychain and the voice differences (they have different filters) make this a really great way to do triads :) I think the differences in the Moog instruments will be much more subtle and still interesting for polychaining.
