Sub 37/Phatty Hybrid

Post by Bald Eagle » Sat Sep 20, 2014 1:59 pm

Just got the Sub 37 yesterday. This synth is absolutely amazing, spectacular and fantastic. I haven't even bothered to sleep yet. It was well worth the 5 month wait. So anyway, I connected the Sub 37 to my Sub Phatty. Sub 37 midi out to Sub Phatty midi in, Sub Phatty audio out to Sub 37 audio in.

I have created a monster  I can't even find the words to describe this 4 oscillator beast. I still have to experiment with the controllers to determine exactly what Sub 37 controls drive the Sub Phatty but a lot of them work as expected (and sometimes not as desired). The midi output filters will definitely come in handy at times.

The possibilities with the Sub 37 alone are incredible but together with the Sub Phatty it's an entirely different experience. Next I have to try the poly chain function but I don't expect it to work yet as I would think a firmware upgrade is required on the Sub Phatty.

Congratulations to everyone at Moog. Well done guys :D

Polychaining has been announced, but hasn't been implemented, or at least released, yet.

The 1.0.2 update notes lists "Poly Mode" but I cant find any other info. I have tried playing with the POLY NUMBER and POLY MAX parameters with no success. So many other things to play with in the mean time. I'll start another thread for poly chaining and maybe our friends at Moog can provide some additional information.

I've used this by setting the parameters in the sub 37 Midi section on the LCD to Poly 2--sort of new to polying monosynths--however looking at my ADAT it looks like both synths trigger upon key presses on just the Sub 37 ... I'm assuming that works as intended? or would it create a two-voice note with further implementation?

I believe you have to set up chaining on the Sub Phatty too. But I'm not sure if it is implemented yet on the SubP...
