SUB37 press "0" on computer number pad wrecks sound

Post by SvK » Sun Sep 21, 2014 3:33 pm

SUB 37 (Logic Pro X)

When I hit the number "0" on my computer keyboard's number pad, it throws the value of the SUB37's "mod1 pitch amnt" out of whack and messes up the sound.
any ideas?

sounds whacky nuts i know ;-)
But I've confirmed that it does this on every sound even an init sound. Hitting "0" on number pad will throw "mod1 pitch amnt" all the way to neg5.

ps: I use "0" for transport functions in logic ProX

best,

Something maybe remotely similar but opposite to the midi processing issue that I am experiencing. Sending midi from the Sub 37 to an external devices seems to produce odd results at time. Perhaps there is some problem in a common midi firmware module. Just guessing here.

Not familiar with your DAW so might just be a problem with some setting for you. I will have to collect more information regarding my issue before I can comment further.

Let us know of any updates you hear of ... Thanks

Hi SvK,

Nearly every editable parameter on the Sub 37 has a specific MIDI CC# assigned to it.

If you send one of these CC#s with a value to the Sub 37, it's going to respond to that command as if you've changed that particular parameter by hand.

A quick look at page 46 of the Sub 37 manual shows that MOD 1 PITCH AMT is controlled by CC# 4. Therefore, it's reasonable to assume that your computer is sending CC#4 every time you press the "0" key.

Assuming that this is true, it would be perfectly normal for the Sub 37 to respond to this CC#4 message regardless of what preset you're on, or if it's an Init preset, or even if you're in PANEL mode. The Sub 37 is simply going to respond to that message.

One easy way to get a handle on what's going In and Out of your computer MIDI-wise, is a free MAc app called MIDI Monitor:

http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/

Once you have it installed and launched, press the computer's "0" key and you will probably see that it's sending CC#4.
