Sub 37 midi hanging ?

Post by inspiran » Sun Sep 14, 2014 1:17 pm

Hi,

I received my Sub 37 yesterday (Belgium), what a joy to play with.

However when connecting the Sub to 37 to Logic X (usb midi, no usb hub) and trying to play some notes I get a strange behaviour where it looks like notes are hanging. It is like a constant note is playing. From the moment I play a note with the piano bar, that specific note is played, but then it jumps back to that constant note. When i move to a preset, it also appears like the arpeggiator is every time activated. Only when i stop the arpeggio (and hit the reset button) i can hear the actual note i do play with the piano bar.

I already upgraded to the latest firmware.

Hi Inspiran,
This sounds like a MIDI loop, so make sure you have Local Control turned off on your Sub 37.
Also, make sure things like the Arpeggiator On, Arp Latch On, and Envelope Latch On buttons are turned off.
If you do ever happen to get a stuck note you can press both KB Octave buttons at the same time to stop it.

Thanks for the quick reply. Pressing both KB octave buttons does seem to reset the midi loop causing the playback to be normal. But i do not think it is caused by local control. After some experimenting I narrowed the issue down to transport buttons in logic (eg. stop / record / play ). When one of those are pressed the issue starts occurring. Could it be that the Sub 37 incorrectly handles transport controls?

Hah, found it. It appears Logic was sending midi data for a Mackie Control Universe logic over the Moog. Clearly the Moog hated that.
