Effects for Little Phatty Stage II
Effects for Little Phatty Stage II
So I am new to the world of analog synths and I am excited that my first synth is the Moog Little Phatty Stage II in white with the CV expansion option installed. I am now on the quest to add some effects for live performance and wanted to see what others are using. I am sure everyone will recommend the Moog analog effect pedals, as they sound amazing, but I am hoping someone could recommend some pedals that are a little more affordable. I'm also looking for creative pedals that might make interesting sounds. I was playing around with the EHX POG 2 and as getting some really cool stuff. Anyway, let me know what you all think is the good stuff and the most used stuff. Thanks!

Hey Awhein, welvome to the forum!
Indeed many peolple here will recommand the MoogerFoogers, not only because they sound great but also because they are akin to experimentation, even more with the CV-out expansion.
Regarding other references, I must say the EHX pedals are quite cool: not very expensive, all sort of FX, some have expression inputs = CV happiness. More generally speaking, when you have that CV-out expansion, any pedal with an expression input can be more than the vanilla FX.
The POG2... I have one, I love the concept but I find it more interesting on guitars, I don't know. With synths, it tends to make sound everything the same. My last experiment was to add it to a MG-1 in order to get kind of a combo organ. Cool!
I use an EHX Cathedral as reverb, and used to use a DMM with tap tempo (that was before getting the 104M...)
I also use a SubDecay Quasar DLX: this is an overfeatured phaser. Expression input, 11 LFO waveshapes, wide rate spectrum, truly great pedal.
Once you get into pedals, there's always more to explore... be aware of it

Re: Effects for Little Phatty Stage II
I am learning this is a whole other world that is awesome! One thing I considered was buying the CP-251 and just continuing to use Mainstage for effects for now. I'm not very good at program my own sounds yet but it seemed like getting the mixer would really open up my options for sounds! Also, I'm new to the whole CV thing which I have come to understand is basically like MIDI except it's using voltage to control other things. It's fun to be inspired to be creative again by trying something totally new. Any other thoughts out there?

strymon pedals look amazing,
im currently looking into getting the timeline which is a delay and big sky a reverb.
but the price for both is 930 or so..
you can also pick up an ensoniq dp4 unit for 2-250
