help! operating system crash

Post by apesma » Fri Apr 25, 2014 3:12 am

after being on for a few hours and functioning correctly, i left the room for a brief period and when i returned the LCD screen was black and the nothing on the voyager was responding. i switched it off and on again and it failed to boot up...the screen showed some random pixel mess. i turned it off and removed all connections,(effect loop insert,output/input feedback loop) apart from the audio outs. i turned it off and on a few more times and eventually it booted up correct.i reconnected the effects loop and feedback loop and it seems to be working fine again.
there were no midi connections.
I've had the voyager for a few years now after buying it new and I've never had this problem before though i did have to have it repaired during its first year due to the envelopes failing.
interested if anybody else has had similar issues and if there are any ideas as to what the problem might be
thanxxxx

Hi apesma,
please contact Moogmusic or your local dealer. It seems to be a power supply problem.

heya

thanks rudi. its still crashing...it will run for awhile but then the vcos will drop pitch and it all goes dead. switching off and on results in the garbled LCD screen with only the midi light lighting. repeating off/on switch eventually gets it running again...until it crashes again...bummer.
i'll contact my local dealer and see what i can arrange.
thanks again

Hi guys,

Andy from the Moog Tech Support team here.

Please contact me directly at (828) 251-0090 ext. 221 or by email andy@moogmusic.com

It is entirely possible that it is a power supply issue, although it could also be a failure of another board shorting power to ground causing the voltage rail to sag/fail. It is hard to say without a proper testing and diagnosis.

If you are in the USA, I will be happy to help you set up an RMA to repair your Voyager, or if you live abroad, to assist you in finding an Authorized Service Center near where you live.

Thanks!
