Damn' that's a shame dude.
Was the voltage you used correct ? (110V/230V) ?
Are you using good cables ? (crackling etc...) and have you tried cleaning the outputs a little ?
I really hope for you this wonderful synth will work soon.
Anyway good luck & let us know if it works !!

More info about the use of the Polymoog in "Cars" (by Gary Numan of course):
btw I took this info from a post by Sean Costello on the AH forum:
Moog Polymoog - "The Pleasure Principle" uses that, and a Minimoog. I've
been able to recreate most of the lead sounds with a Rogue, and an MG-1 when
I owned it. Lots of synths should be able to get this sound (I've even
adapted string section samples to sound like this); just have plenty of
oscillator detuning (or chorus), run things through a phaser or flanger
(Gary used lots of flanged Minimoog), and put a fairly slow (4 Hz) pitch
vibrato on the string section notes.
A typical example: On "Cars" a Minimoog (played by the guitarist live) is
used for the rhythm line, doubling the bass. A second Minimoog (played by
Numan live) is used for the filter burbling sound at the beginning. A
Polymoog (played by one of the two keyboardists of the live band) is used
for the main melody line. A second Polymoog (played by the second
keyboardist), run through a phaser, is used for the harmony line. Very
expensive gear at the time, for such a simple sound. Of course, it paid for
itself, I suppose.

Imho pretty interesting.

I've heard that wobbly sound at the beginning was done with the Vox Humana patch and the MXR Phaser. I've tried it and it sounds almost exactly the same.
The noise doesn't seem to be due to dirty contacts, as I've tried different cables and different outputs. Something's obviously come loose inside, and I can't figure out what.

Maybe you should ask this (describe the problem as accurate as possible) in the www.moogarchives.com forums - you'd never know somebody had a similar problem and can help you out.

Do any of you know if the Polymoog instruments have a headphone imput? Perhaps, you could go mono out with a stereo divider, in a pinch. That would bypass the primary output(s) and possibly provide a temporary fix.

Yeah, that's the one. But I already knew about it before you told me, so don't worry!
I will get this bleeper working somehow. Something's come loose. I don't have time to check all 71 cards at the moment, and I actually think its something else. Several people agree my Vox Humana doesn't sound right.
Here's a recording of my problem. I shall be away for a few weeks though, so I won't be able to try any suggestions.
Polymoog.
1: 6 seconds of silence.
2: Me playing Films even worse than last time!
3: Followed by that string bit from Cars.
4: About 40 seconds of silence. Turn volume all the way to hear crackling, and occasional beeping/screeching/crackling. I also press each preset, and some make more noise than others, I also play with the pitch ribbon (roughly around 2:15 through).
5: Put volume back down - hitting a note on each octave (2:22).

You could try asking Colin Vincent on the forums at www.dubsounds.com
Whatever its faults, that is a remarkable demo. I've never knowingly heard a Polymoog Demo. Real thick and juicy! Take a (cyber) bow, Boeing.
