I am having a similar problem.

I can't get any automation in Ableton at all though, regardless of whether the editor is open or not. If I have only the editor open I am receiving midi messages in both directions, meaning I can adjust the hardware and view changes happening in the editor, and can adjust settings in the editor and have them affect the hardware.

When I use Ableton and set the Minitaur up as an ext. instrument I appear to be getting midi in only one direction (to the hardware). I'll record a midi clip which records all the notes played from my midi keyboard, and I am getting sound into live, I'm just not getting any automation messages being recorded if I adjust any of the setting on the hardware.

This makes me think there's a problem with the settings in Ableton? I've tried changing the midi preferences in Ableton and currently have Minitaur input: Track=OFF, Sync=ON, Remote=ON - Minitaur output: Track=ON, Sync=ON, Remote=ON. If I turn the Minitaur midi input Track to ON, I then don't have any control of the hardware anymore (or the range of the knobs have all been greatly reduced).

Setup is:
Macbook Pro OS X 10.7.5
Ableton Live 8
Scarlett 8i6 (connected via USB)
Akai MPK 25 (connected via USB)
Minitaur (connected via USB) - Output going to channel 1 input on soundcard

I've also tried setting up with midi cable from MPK 25 to the Minitaur, and with midi cable from Soundcard to Minitaur. Can't get any automation into Ableton with any of the three setups.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as Amos makes it look very easy in the official videos.

Just as an update I tried the Minitaur on an empty midi channel setting the midi in and midi out to the Minitaur. Using this method I was able to track automation changes when recording which means I am receiving midi back into Ableton, I just can't get it working as an ext. Instrument.

I am also having the same problem. I cant use Ableton Live 8 and the Editor together. If I open the editor on its own it works fine and shows that its Firmware Version 2.0 . But then if I open Ableton Live I cant select the Minitaur within it. If i open Ableton 1st then the editor nothing works in the editor and where it should say Firmware Version 2.0 there a "?".

What I am having to do is open the editor on its own, select the patch I want to use, configure it how I want it (monitoring via the headphone output) then close the editor. Then open Ableton and use the Minitaur normally. But If I want to change the patch I have to go through the whole process again.

This is a massive interruption to my normal workflow. Its getting to the stage where I'm seriously thinking of selling the Minitaur.

Is there going to be a Firmware update to solve this problem? I cant work like this much longer :(

I've had lfo wack out problems hooking it up to any type of midi device
I don't think it's all that well designed truthfully a bit too buggy for my taste

It's like it strive's to be simple and overly complex "under the hood" at the same time

Have not had any problems with my Voyager are Foogers I seem to prefer Bog Moog design's
Voyager XL, Minitaur,Theremen+, Fooger's, Midi delay and Midi murf, Freq box X 2, Ring mod, 101 Filter, Novation ultra station, ZR 76, MC808, Bent Casio's, 3 Speak and Spell's , M audio black box,Korg Monotribe, Ipad's with Animoog, Filtron on and on..
