Hi,
I am slightly confused about whether I can get Voyager features such as expanded patch storage and afterpressure and so on installed with a v.3 board field upgrade. My Voyager has version 3.1 software installed but original non-upgraded hardware.
What can I, and what can't I get improved?
Many thanks,
Ben
Moog Voyager v.3 board upgrade
Re: Moog Voyager v.3 board upgrade
The board v.3 upgrade gives you the physical part (= storage capacity) to use multiple sound banks. The 3.00 and later software releases gave you the software needed to use this. Except for the additional patch capacity, the board upgrade got no additional features. And all versions of the 3.00 or later software run a like on all Voyagers with or without this upgrade. Only the patch memory differs. The board could be ordered to be installed by Moog or by technical skilled users themself. The later was called "field update". No technical difference.
The aftertouch was always present on the Moog Voyagers. But the earlier ones had a real strange scaling due to less the optimal analog circuits that did the interface from the keyboard action (a often seen one from the company Fatar of Italy) to the Voyager electronics. So there was an upgrade that fixed this for the earlier Voyagers that were built prior the release of this update.
