Sub Phatty Filter Cutoff Knob glitching out (Video)
http://youtu.be/oZVdghiZTCs
Here is a video demonstrating my cutoff knob wigging out when I touch it. Another user posted of a similar experience.
I've tried it Local ON, Local OFF, and tried it with Snap, pass-through, and relative modes.
Reinstalled firmware 1.4.1, and initialized globals.
Looks like hardware to me...what do you guys think?

I should also note that this is a tiny bit of up and down play in the potentiometer shaft. I took the knob off and everything is secured, but, it feels like the shaft itself can be pressed down a tiny bit, and then the filter works as long as I keep pressure on it.

I think that this is a hardware problem. I'm not an expert on this, but this is my guess. Maybe there's something loose with this particular knob. You can always contact Moog Music's Support. I hope you can solve this!
Cheers!

Cheers!

I have the same problem as posted here: http://forum.moogmusic.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=20042
How do you contact the support? What can they do for you? Shall I bring it back to the shop.. it's completely useless as it is..

Go to the Moog Music website and click support and then service. Or go here directly: http://www.moogmusic.com/support/servicetroglodisme wrote:How do you contact the support?
All kinds of things, probably.troglodisme wrote:What can they do for you?
Yeah, I'd first contact the place where you bought your unit.troglodisme wrote:Shall I bring it back to the shop.. it's completely useless as it is..

Just wanted to say I pulled the video from youtube...
Figured the Moog service people may have had the day off (Labour Day).
I'll give em a call tomorrow and get it sorted out! Shouldn't be an issue since the synth has never been misused or dropped/slammed by anything.
...good thing my bandmate left his Voyager here for a couple weeks...wouldn't want to go Moogless for too long...Theremin doesn't cut it sometimes!

Re: Sub Phatty Filter Cutoff Knob glitching out (Video)
Sounds like there may have been a bad batch of potentiometers used for the filter cutoff knobs (based off the "wiggling" of the potentiometer post that you mention).
I have seen this as a common problem from all kinds of manufacturers of electronics. It's usually a problem in the manufacturing of the pot/encoder itself, and not the fault of the companies that use these parts. Some pots have a kind of standard spacing that allows the shaft to wiggle slightly, but if it too loose, the pot's contact points are touching in the wrong places, therefore, random/erratic behaviour.
Also, not sure if you tried this, but have the synth running stand-alone, with nothing plugged in but the Audio Out cable. I have had some issues with the digital control of the filter cutoff when running MIDI, which causes either the filter cutoff to not respond, or to act somewhat erratic (usually just doesn't work). But when I unplug all connections but the Audio Out, the synth operates just fine upon startup. (Willing to assume this will be addressed in a firmware update? haven't even looked for any recently.)
If you still have the issue running stand-alone, I'de say definitely take it to the store you bought it from to have the issue confirmed by their tech (if they have one) and get your Moog back to tip-top shape!

Well, it's on it's way back to Ashville!
$111.00 to ship it, but, Moog's covering the return shipping...very cool!
Andy was very helpful, can't wait to get it back!

Hi grailtone,
I have the same problem but didn't get any answer from the customer service (I am based in Italy).
Di you get yours fixed? To me it doesn't make any sense that we have to pay the shipping, especially if it's a fault many have!
Please let me know thanks!

Troglodisme: I just called them, US phone number that Amos posted. Talked to Andy and got a return authorization. Sent it back, which cost a ton because I double boxed it, but, after the whole mix/EG board was replaced, I'll have it back By Tuesday next week. I still lost money on the whole deal, but, ill have it back in time for a tour if nothing goes wrong with shipping.
In Europe, I'd imagine this to be a more difficult situation. I'm on the opposite side of the continent from moog, but still in the same country.
Best of luck!!!!
