Pitch Wheel to only osc2? [SUB PHATTY]

Post by funkybeatz911 » Sun Sep 15, 2013 6:55 pm

Hi all,

Does anyone know if it is possible to assign the pitch wheel to affect only one oscillator and leave the other constant, similar to how the modulation can be set to 'PITCH AMT OSC2 ONLY'?
Thanks!

What parameter of oscillator 2 do you want to affect ?

There is an under the hood function to set Waveform Modulation Destion to either osc 1, osc 2 or both (see page 28 of the manual).

nope, pitch wheel affects both oscillators.

Stiiiiiiive: I only want to affect the pitch by a determined amount of semitones

Breun: Thanks for the comment, but I want to affect the pitch destination, not the waveform modulation destination, although that is a cool parameter

Amos: Thanks for the answer. I was curious if anyone knew a way since I couldn't find a program setting in the manual. It would be way cool if Moog could add this feature in a future firmware update!

It may not be exactly what you are looking for, but you can do it with the mod wheel if you set the source to FILT EG and push the Pitch Amt OSC 2 ONLY button. Then just make sure you have full sustain on the filter eg, and you can dial in the interval you want with the PITCH AMT. It's kind of a cool trick.

Thanks Wingo, I actually learned that trick in an earlier thread I created.

My main reason for posting is that I am trying to manipulate the Factory Preset [BANK2 PATCH2] so that I can move the interval between a major and minor third with one of the wheels.

I can't do it with the Pitch Wheel because it always affects both oscillators and cannot be set to control just one.

I can do it with the Mod Wheel, but there is a catch. In this specific case, changing the filter envelope (so I can use the mod wheel with full sustain to change the pitch of OSC2) fundamentally changes the timbre of the sound. I want to keep the timbre of Factory [Preset Bank2 Patch2] identical but be able to control the pitch of OSC2 between a major and minor third. I have been working on this problem for a couple weeks now

Ok. I was going to talk you about the modulation trick...
