Mould on wood panels

I took out one of my mf's which had been in a box, to find mould spores on the wood panels. Not a huge amount but not ideal at all.

I have been successfully using diluted clove oil to kill mould on other things. So, I sprayed some on a cloth, dabbed/wiped the wood down, and then wiped over it all again with a damp cloth. Then let it sit out in a bit of indirect sun briefly to make sure it's all dry.

However I'm concerned it could have got to the inside of the wood panels and inside the unit. There are a couple of bits that are difficult to get to, ie they look "in between" the wood and the black enclosure...very tiny minuscule space (if any), but I can see it. Is the best way to check this to take the panels off, and if so is there anything special I need to do, or just literally unscrew it all, do as above and then just make sure it's all dry? Or, are the wood panels on these flush against the enclosure, and therefore there would be no risk of it getting inside?

I know you can do this (unscrew the wood panels) if you rack mount on the kit, but I had not done this before. Hopefully that makes sense.

Any thoughts?

I would guess it's totally safe to unscrew the sides since you need to do that when racking. Haven't done it myself though.

I've taken the sides off of my Foogers. It's three screws on the bottom and one screw on the back. Nothing could be simpler.

I would definitely take the sides off and clean them inside & out.

Also, I would recommend you take a look at the electronics of your Foogers (as much as you can) and check for corrosion ~
If your storage area is damp enough to support mold growth on the wood, it could be affecting the electronics as well.

If you're still using the original cardboard containers, it's probably best to just go ahead and trash them if there is any sign of mold.
Mold & paper products don't generally separate easily.

Thanks for the replies. I'll open it up tomorrow and check it out inside.

Interestingly, another one I store in a cotton (I assume it's cotton) bag has no obvious trace of it. This one mentioned above was in another spot, in the cardboard box under the cardboard "sides" that come in the box..so am not sure how that works. Obviously it attracted more moisture or whatever conditions allowed the growth.

Hopefully a few packs of damp rid, re positioning and clove oil treatment will do the trick..or, maybe if I run a fat drone through at the right frequency it might eliminate it. I'll call it the mould note.

I have a good mold-free studio that I could store it in for you. My rates are reasonable too.

I opened it up and thankfully none on the inside that I could see. Couple of marks on the underside of the case (including a white-ish one near footswitch) but doesn't look like mould to me and the circuit board looks pristine. I've put it in a new spot.
