I just received a reply from MoogMusic about the V3.0 details as follows:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello-
V. 3.0 is not available for non-upgraded Voyagers. It's preloaded into V 3.0 boards and all Voyagers currently in production!
Non-Preset-memory-increasing functionality in V 3.0 includes:
- You can use the External Audio Pot to scroll through presets.
- Pressing EDIT button twice opens an Octave Up/down Transpose screen,
- You can thin T.S. MIDI data
- You can send 7 or 14 bit Mod Wheel MIDI CC data (Previously only
14-bit)
Those are the main differences. Some functions were moved around in the menus as well.

So it seems no upgrade path beyond V2.5 without the new board and memories that I do not need.

I've got the 3.0 in my AE and love it. More places to store my presets and very, very fast access to them. Plus who knows what other enhancements will come down the line with upgrades? It was definitely worth it to me.

Mhm, this seems a bit unfair to me.
Ok, i want the V3 update either when it is available for field upgrades.
But i amsure, that there are quiet a lot of Voyagers which do not want this Hardware-bounded upgrade and pay for just because of increasing the presets, but waited for the octave up/down and presetscrolling feature.
On the other hand, if this will help to keep Moog alive, everyone should it!!

Hello,
I am am also among those who are fine with the 128 presets and the editor, but who need the software tweaks that would enable the V'ger to work better with older midi gear (touch plate and wheel data). Let me see if I have this correct: The ability to bit reduce the midi cc data from the mod wheel and thin out the data from the touch plate can only be implemented via the purchase of a new digital board?
