Little Phatty CV OUT MOD pitch problem
Little Phatty CV OUT MOD pitch problem
I've got a Little Phatty with CV OUT mod. When I control my analog equipment with CV/gate with the Little Phatty's keyboard, I noticed that the pitch CV OUT is not good. For example when I press the C key on the LP, the note produced on the controled synth becomes a G# and not a C.
It's not a problem of 1V/oct scale because the tracking is excellent but there is just a difference of 4 tones and a half relative to the reference note pressed on the keyboard. I don't have this problem when I use my MiniBrute to control the same CV/gate synths, a C is a C (or any other notes of the keyboard) so the problem comes from the Little Phatty, no doubt about it.
What's the problem ? Is there a trimmer or something inside the Phatty where I can adjust the offset ? Can I fix it myself ?
Thanks.

Re: Little Phatty CV OUT MOD pitch problem
Salut Sencha
I experimented that with CV in general and often solved by pressing a key on the controlled synth, just to set a reference. So the synth you're trying to control has a keyboard, you should try to press a C before sending CV in it.
On a side note, more recently, I've been told that some F-F keybed equiped synths have an F as reference for the pitch. Consequently, controling them through MIDI necesitates to consider a 3 1/2 tone offset.
J'espère que ça t'aidera

Merci stiiiiiiive
Unfortunately it doesn't help !
The only way to resolve temporaly the problem is to use the Offset of my CP-251 but it's not normal that I need an external device. The VC OUT modification was so expensive, I'm a bit upset that it doesn't work properly ! I don't understand, each time I had problems with CV/gate connections it was always with (modern) Moog gear... Sorry that I have to tell this here... !

Unlike MIDI, CV has no fixed pitch reference.
You are not the first to post here with this issue, perhaps others who have experienced it will chime in.

Re: Little Phatty CV OUT MOD pitch problem
Sure but then why my other keyboards equipped with CV/gate outputs, such as the Arturia MiniBrute or vintage synths, are factory set to produce the good pitch reference and not the Little Phatty ? When I use these keyboards to drive a CV/gate synth or a VCO from my modular, the note will be the same than the key pressed and not a difference of several tones.Unlike MIDI, CV has no fixed pitch reference.

What is the controled synth, BTW?

Re: Little Phatty CV OUT MOD pitch problem
This morning, the CV Gate OUT doesn't work anymore, impossible to trigger the envelopes of my external CV/gate synths.
That's a shame, bad China quality I guess. I'm more and more disappointed by Moog.
I finally add this (expensive) CV OUT MOD for nothing... I am really furious !

Sorry to hear that, mate
I hope it's still under warranty in which case you can get it fixed. Contact Moog support and/or MESI, my best piece of advice.
