Sub Phatty-Automate LFO clock divider way off

Post by OgamiZ » Fri Jul 05, 2013 4:55 am

Automating the LFO clock divider to vary in speed doesn't work like it used to within ableton 8.4.1
It was never dead accurate but followed the changes in automation for the most part, after tweaking sync time in abletons midi preferences. It worked much better with earlier firmware versions but I can't remember which one. Currently at v1.2.8

Now when the clock divider is changed via automation it mostly hangs on the previous division or might start randomly working as it should. It's especially annoying in a loop eg. End of loop is at 1/8 start should be back down to 1/4 but instead hangs at 1/8. When you turn off the Sub P's midi sync (clock divider to Hz) automation is 100% accurate. Automation of the LFO rate in Studio One is no better but for some reason seems to work as it should in Reaper.

The result is the same with automation of the editor or direct midi (controller 3)
This kind of renders the Sub Phatty useless for more aggressive BASS/Dubstep styles of music.

Using with only usb connected straight to a mac with the latest version of mountain lion.

I just had a look through the forum there & spotted this thread about LFO sync issues.

This is probably related to what I've been getting lately in abe live. Fingers crossed Amos will get it sorted soon. Amos I really appreciate the work you've been putting into the SubP lately, it's an amazing wee synth & hopefully when most of the bugs get ironed out it'll be even better.

Please make LFO rate midi sync your top priority

(instructions if needed, ignore version# referenced in instructions and use above file)

changes in v1.2.9:

- fixed EG Reset / Multi-Trigger modes (I think... listen carefully)
- improved LFO MIDI Sync
- Keyboard Octave buttons send MIDI again
- VCO 1 Octave no longer affects Filter KB Tracking
- Amp EG Attack knob always adjusts Delay parameter while in Shift mode

Thanks Amos :)

Its working so much better now, I just have to get my midi clock sync delay as tight as possible. Just out of curiosity, what do you have your delay amount set at in ableton live?

It's going to vary from one computer to another...
