Voyager Music?

Post by SynthBaron » Fri Dec 12, 2003 10:00 pm

Was just digging through some old files, found this some of you might enjoy. Sort of an environmental soundscape piece all done with the Voyager about a year ago:

So, anyone else out there make music with YOUR Voyagers? Comon, post some MP3's people! I wanna hear more!

Very reminiscent of early David Vorhaus "White Noise" work :)

Todd - very beautiful pieces.
Can you share some details? For example, do you specifically select patches before beginning or just improvise? Do you loop for awhile and then select the best minute?
By the way, while the Mars connection is interesting, I can no longer get the music. Downloading the mp3 is the most efficient way for me to listen. Are downloaders out of luck?

Dear Dr. Floyd --

Thanks for your kind comments, glad you like the pieces. re: details:
I just lay down a loop of 15-30 or 45 seconds then improvise over the
top in real time using mainly stock Voyager patches along with a handful
of my own. I'm also doing a lot of fade ins/filter sweeps/and variable
envelope shaping with the touchpad (love it!). What you hear is what
comes down on the fly -- the only edit is stopping the looping at about
a minute.

I'll look into the download problem. Meanwhile, I am keeping the original
site active which some folks tell be they can download just fine:

all the best, Todd

a quick follow-up note: talked with the webmaster at
http://www.twelfthroot.com/moogmuse/ and he has changed a few settings
so that now you should be able to hear the files at that site. Let me know
if this works. best, Todd
