little phatty modulation amount

Post by anselmi » Sun May 26, 2013 12:24 pm

I noticed my slim phatty let you set the initial modulation amount ans save it in the patch but in my friend´s little phatty you just set the maximum amount of wheel modulation

I was thinking about switch my slim phatty for a little phatty stage II with the expanded CV outs but this issue is a deal breaker for me. I want some patches to be recalled with an specific modulation amount and never touch it, but it seems to be impossible in the little phatty

Is there something I´m missing or this is the actual situation?

Thanks

On the LP, just keep the modwheel in the full up position. Use the front panel LFO amount to set depth that is saved with the patch.

I guess there could be some places where the functionality of the LP could be a problem. What are you doing where this would be a problem? Maybe there is an easy work around.

yep, I know this way

yes, in the slim phatty you can set an initial and final modulation amount

the way you described allows you to set just 1 level with another one that is always zero (mod wheel all the way down)
so you sacrify the possibility of having a pre-set modulation range of your choise in order to get an "initial" modulation amount by having the wheel all the way up...I don´t know if I´m explaining it right...

In my patches I like to set an initial mod amount aand also a final one, so when you move your wheel you reach a useful value...after all the possibility of having a modulation wheel scaling is just for this very reason, to limit the modulation range in a useful way, but when you sacrify it just to get the "static" modulation value that the patch should have (saved) you loose the modulation wheel purpose
